Firstly, we can't expect Marshall to play like that every game as yesterday was one of the best performances i've seen from a vale player in years.

 

Also, if he can play how he has done in the first few games of this season, enjoy him as he wont be with us for very long.

Agree entirely with all of the praise heaped on Marshall. We were talking to the club vicar, John Hibbert, after the game and he told us that Mark asked him to pray for his boots before the game. John did just that, lifting both feet and blessing both boots. We suggested he should try it with a few more boots before the next game! Could be a long queue!:rolleyes:

Smurf needs to talk to the lad and get him on an improved longer contract because as I said on a previous thread there will be many admiring eyes at other clubs.

The biggest wonder to me is why didn't Coventry try harder to keep him? This is the second diamond that the Sky Blues have let us steal following on from Steve McPhee.

As a big JMW fan(someone who I thought it would be so hard to replace),this lad has been superb so far and has easily replaced him,a lot of credit must go to Adams for bringing him to the club.

Came here to say what's already been mentioned. I love the idea of the new transfer policy, however the first signing doesn't need scouting and is much closer to home. He needs at least a 2 1/2 year contract in front of him now at least. Far more Important than a new face.

Thought we should have signed him when he was at Barnet. Ran us ragged 2 seasons on the trot at their place. Have always admired Marshall as a low league winger, great signing on the free.

I am really pleased with what Marshall has done at vale so far since his move to vale in the summer :). he hasn't made a step wrong so far and he is a consistent player and to be honest he always tries his best and he wants to get into the game and from where he has came from having 2 years out of football and then a move to Coventry city last season. it is a massive change around him and I think he has got his football career back on track and let it continue :). I can understand already why Coventry fans wanted to keep him last season and a lot of teams were after him. In my 7 years supporting the vale he has been the best winger I have ever seen playing for the vale :).

He's actually showed signs of his brilliance in nearly every game so far. He causes panic and chaos all the time as defenders back off him and he now has at least 2 players trying to mark him, so we ought to capitalise on that.

 

Dynamo gem Marshall has to be given a long term contract to stop the vultures circling!

Totally agree, he's been our key player so far this season and surely a longer term deal can't be far in the offing, be amazed if he isn't offered something before December.

 

I remember him murdering us at Underhill a couple of times and at that point could only dream about signing him.

He has been the player of the season so far.

 

The best piece of business Smurf could do is to extend the lads contract by another two years. Firstly, it will ensure he stays at Vale Park for as long as possible. Secondly, from Smurfs point of view, if/when he goes it will help ensure we get the best possible price for him.

I think he has got Man of the match for every home league game this season and that includes tuesday where he came of the bench.

Give him a new contract and tie him down.

Also needs his own song so we can show our appreciation.
