Close season new players rumours

Recommended Posts

James O'Connor (the bald one we had on loan a few years ago, not the ginge who used to play for Stoke) has been released by Derby.

He went on to be a decent player for Bournemouth and Doncaster after playing for us.

Good shout,29 years old and plays right back.

Good shout Santa. He was a good player at the Vale and I was disappointed, but not surprised, when he left. At 29 he should be at the peak of his career. Might also benefit from working for Micky Adams.

What benefit do you think Micky Adams will have on a 29 year old player, that Nigel Clough and Steve McClaren have not had ?

Some decent players released by Barnsley. Bobby Hassell, Kelvin Etuhu, Paddy McCourt, Martin Woods, Lawrence and even Frimpong would be good signings.

Didn't help Barnsley much this season

He played one game in the final few months...

I saw him play more than once. I can certainly remember him turning up and not even looking half the player he did before Christmas. He had no pace, no skill and no desire. I was glad when he left and I wouldn't be happy if we signed him in league 2 never mind league 1!

"He went 12 weeks without a goal before he netted twice in a 3–0 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Vale Park on 5 February 2013.[29] On 12 March, he picked up an ankle injury that kept him out of action until the last day of the season"

MICKY Adams is hoping Ashley Vincent can play a part as Port Vale celebrate promotion in their final game of the season.

The 27-year-old, who has missed much of the run-in due to an ankle injury, looks set to be included in the squad for the trip to Wycombe Wanderers (3pm).

Adams reckons the winger, who has made 39 appearances this season, deserves to be involved.

Vincent was expected to return for last week's promotion clincher against Northampton Town only to pull out at the last minute.

"We thought Ashley would be in the squad last week, but he wasn't quite right on the Friday before the game," said Adams.

"We'll play it by ear for the Wycombe game, but I hope he can play because he's been a massive part of it this season."

Yeah... So he still made 39 appearances. I don't get your point. I was saying that he played in the final few months. Alls that shows is that he wasn't out for that long. He left the club thinking he was better than it we don't want players like that around vale. He was good until Christmas and then in his 3 months... Of football after Christmas he was dire. 100% we should not be looking at signing Vincent.
