As for Paynter I think he is best left alone imo and Gardner although a very good CB has had many injury problems you only have to look at his appearance record to date and I would also imagine he is on a decent wage too.

Why is there always a hankering to bring back ex players? Lets start afresh. Any road up Paynter would just get in Popey's way defo not the type of partner he needs. Someone go and talk kev phillips out of retirement.

 

Again I agree,now he has been mentioned I could see Clarke fitting in alongside Pope or even Ryan Lowe if he gets released as Adams tried to sign him before he went Tranmere(sorry for keep mentioning him but his record this season in a relegated team has been very good)

Curtis Nelson only 20 years old but a good player, capped at U18 level aswell I think.

I see Man City want to loan out 3 defenders next season to lower league clubs..Adam Drury a 19yr old pacy right back is one who is wanted by a few League One teams apparently.

 

The other two are Ellis Plummer a pacy Left back/Centre half and Gregory Leigh who is a full back but also been played at Centre Half

Not a rumour, but just seen that Billy Clarke at Crawley has not been offered a new contract by John Gregory. I've liked him every time I've seen him. Tricky, with decent pace and a good left foot. Has also played in the Championship so he has a decent pedigree. He's a bit different than any of our strikers and would link up well with Lines, Loft and Knott if we were extremely fortunate to keep any of them. I thought our home game only changed when Gregory took him off as he was their best player.
