Maybe, but Robertson has also been found out. "Leaps" is not a term I'd use for Robertson, when he's defending crosses.

As this is a rumours thread, can I throw the name Sean St Ledger into the ring?

 

Adams is targeting a centre-half (according to the Sentinel today)

Adams largely favours experience (St Ledger is 29)

St Ledger was linked to us a while back

He's a free agent (released by Leicester)

He apparently "favours" a return to somewhere close to Solihull (his family live there) and we're clearly not that far away

 

This is (of course) all speculation with no factual evidence, but if the club are looking for a couple of "marquee" signings, he may fit the bill for one of them perhaps?

Florent Cuvelier - injury free of course. Anyone think that we will see him back at Vale Park next season. Seemed surplus to requirements at Sheff Utd, and Adams is a creature of habit who would at least have seen him train with the lads up to the unfortunate half hour that he played in the first team. On the basis that he looked clearly unfit to me and the fact that Adams was desperate to get him in the midfield, I wouldn't be surprised if he is on the shopping list over the summer period. Throw in the fact that he may still have digs locally after his Stoke time, then it may be a good fit for all?

One of them "dodgy" rumour sites has linked him with Walsall (probably due to their location) so if there's any modicum of truth in that then their budgets is comparable with ours.

 

Also, he may have been on 25k a week but not now as he's a free agent. I would suspect he'll get what he's offered - and if the only offers come from the likes of Vale or Walsall, then his next salary may need to reflect that.

If we were able to secure, knott, cuvelier plus one out of loft or Lines, then in my opinion that would gives us a great deal more movement and quality on the ball that we have had for the last couple for seasons in Centre Mid. Not sure of Cuveliers battling/tackling skills, but with knots tenacity and the pre-requisited MA "Hard work", this could nullify our need to rely on a Griffiths type of character who was unfortunately a little too "one dimensional" in what he could offer.

 

Next year, I would like to see a centre midfield trio with two out and out wingers with one of the 3 centres given free rein to support Pope from deep and I think a combination of 3 of the above 4 centre mids would do a good job for us. JMW on one wing and a pacy addition to the left would make us a good counter attacking team away from home, with a predominant 4-5-1 and an attacking team at home with a 4-3-3.
