yeah wages may be an issue mate, although i know for fact he said he would never come here, his mates are big stokies...lets wait and see i guess

Well seeing as there is now so much conjecture on the matter, for those who have commentated on numerous threads, I believe we have been in talks with Martin Patterson for 7 days are due to announce his signing. If true quality signing and real show of intent. Fingers crossed

I hope you're right as he'd be the best signing the club has made for a decade.

Aren't perceptions really funny. Just looking at the westcarr thread and there are comments on there about what a massive step backward it would be to sign a guy that a league 1 club didn't want and yet on this thread, people are talking of Patterson as if he would be great signing, even though he spent the second half of last season warming the bench for a bottom half of the table league 1 club.

 

I for one would be very happy with either of these, as I believe that they would both be able to offer something different to our style of play.

 

As for Patterson not signing because of his loyalty to Stoke, I find that ridiculous. It's his job, and if it didn't work out for him at Bristol, then he is not going to be faced with masses of appetising offers this summer and maybe vale suits him from a location/family point of view in the same way that Gillingham suits lofty! When it comes to earning a salary, and if Vale are putting a nice one on the table for him, I suspect his family and friends would be actively encouraging him to accept well paid employment!

Huddersfield fan I know reckons that us signing Paterson would be a great bit of business for them. They'd be delighted to get him off their wage bill.

 

He's had a long time out injured and since then he's struggled. Even at Bristol City on loan he didn't set the world on fire.

This would be a concern of mine, his recent form and fitness has been poor, don't feel 100% about this signing if it's true.

Paterson would be a risky signing imo,in the last two seasons he has played 30 games for Huddersfield and Bristol City(on loan),scoring 6 goals.

Apparently,he has a dodgy knee?

 

He had 31 starts (including 5 WCQ, scoring 2) & 11 sub appearances last season alone. The season before (2012-13) 28 starts & 11 sub for Burnley.
