Close season new players rumours

I saw Adam Reach a couple of times last season.. Has a great left foot and would love to have him down Vale Park. Scored a couple of crackers aswell

I'll be amazed if Adam Reach goes out on-loan again next season, let alone if he actually signed for you.

I know Parkinson wants him back for next season, after a successful loan period. He's a tricky winger with a goal in him - and actually has an end product. We enquired about signing him, and 'Boro wanted in excess of £500k. With all that being said, if he was to go back out on-loan again, I'd imagine we'd be favourites - based purely on familiar ground and geographical reasons.

So in a round about way what your saying is that 'he's out of our Reach'?

Nathan Doyle has been released by Bradford.

27,played at a higher level-defensive midfielder/centre half-sure he wouldn't be on a huge wage.

May use some of Hughes wage from last season.

Thoughts?

Doyle is a fantastic player - enough said - but i'm gonna elaborate anyway.

He's held the club at ransom three times - signing 1 year deals, barring this pre-season, where both parties couldn't agree terms. He obviously holds his playing ability at a high regard - which is fair enough. He's still relatively young, and will only improve. He's one of the better ball players in the lower leagues - but having said that, he proved to be a very steady Championship midfielder too.

You might not think he'll comand high wages, but you're wrong. He was very well paid at BCFC - one of the higher earners - and in comparison to our other higher earners (McLean £5,500 - Davies £4,500 - Yeates £3,500 etc), he was certainly up there in that respect. His demands this time, i'm guessing, weren't financially viable hence his departure.

If the Doyle rumour is genuine, and you manage to agree terms, you have a yourself a very good player. I'm a bit gutted his replacement is Gary Liddle, to be honest.

McLean £5,500? Wow. He looked like he didn't know how to stand up when we went there in February.

Certainly somewhere around that figure, yes. He's one to watch next season IMO. Seems to have gone under the radar due to his slow start. It took him 10 games to find his fitness, then scored 4 goals in 10, or something like that. He was brought in to play off of Hanson, like Nahki Wells - but it was quickly evident that wasn't 'his' game - it's ball to feet/in behind - which is the sort of football we're looking to impose next season.

Having said that we thought we were favourites for Knott too so although I doubt we would be able to get Reach you can never say never

I don't think I would be happy Vale paying 5k a week to any player at League one level but rest assured we have been known to pay a decent wage so again never say never

When Reach played against us for the Shrews he was mediocre.

I also saw him twice playing for them and again he was only average at the New Meadow.

But that was in a poor team and he is a young lad learning his trade.

Certainly, it is players like these who we have to be interested in - young lads who don't quite make it in the Championship/Premiership but with something to prove and an eagerness to make their way in the game.
