Several have mentioned this on the post-match thread but what exactly was the point of giving the Man of the Match Award to Chris Neal? If it was intended as a joke it was in extremely poor taste - Neal made a bad mistake for the second goal and had very little else to do during the game. Not only would the decision cause embarrassment to Neal in the Valiants Suite after the game but also it denied the award from two or three far more deserving candidates.

Just because you pay a few quid to sit in the posh seats doesn't give you the right to mock what has gone on on the pitch.

Jean I really hope that who ever it was that decided he was MOM was not driving home.

I agree with Jean. I was furious with Neal - going two down effectively killed an otherwise close game. But if the MOTM award was indeed meant as some kind of joke, then it was just plain embarrassing. For everyone.

As for Davis, whom I rate, if he'd made the mistakes that both Robertson and Neal made last night (and have been making on a fairly regular basis), he'd have been dropped from the squad for the rest of the season.

My thoughts exactly Jean. If I were Chris I wouldn't have gone to pick up the award because I would have been too tempted to hit them with it!

Chris Neal has been brilliant for us over the past two seasons and this stupid act was no more than an insult to a good keeper.

Mick Cullerton said on the radio that it was a mate of his and I think he said Rudgie and Terry Conroy were included in the group. He also said that based on that MOTN decision, he thought that they all must be drunk!

The guy sat next to me who was listening to his radio throughout said much the same thing.

If I was Duffy I would be really surprised I hadn't won it.

I think Adams is handling Billy Knott very well. He is young and hasn't had much experience at this level. He needs to become comfortable with the pace of the game etc and get his fitness levels right. Rather than throw him in from the start and demoralise him if he has a bad game and is subbed, bring him on for 20 minutes and let him have a go seems to be working well. Joe Davis played against Stafford Rangers for 120 minutes on Monday night so he wasn't going to feature last night.

I think that was voted for by the away fans rather than our sponsor though. They was a phone vote available at the time.

Why would Leyton Orient fans vote for a Vale player when they have just won an away match.Wouldn't they want to vote for one of their own players as MOM?
