Embarrassment.

Dispatches, currently on Channel 4 shows just how useless the police and stewards are at football matches.

Can you enlighten us to how you would go about arresting/ejecting 100s of chanting morons. The enforcement of ground regs is the job of the stewards who are usually on minimum wage and only really do it to see their club play perhaps you may be brave enough to take on a chanting Millwall or West ham mob I doubt they are.

Of course clubs could pay for more police inside the stadium because let's face it it would take a few of them to nick a 100 strong mob and in any case if they did attempt it they would be accused of being heavy handed and starting trouble.

If racist/homophobic chanting is the fault of anyone it's that of the ill educated cretins that do it not the stewards or police for not attempting the impossible

Being as it was known about items being throw from the upper tier.It was mentioned during the previous week.It has been mentioned that P N E fans suffered similar. The clubs stewards have even said that it happens most weeksThen a simple solution would be to put a netting across the front two or three rows of seats in the upper tier.Add to that view CCTV camera footage to find the people who are throwing the items. If the stewards know it goes on most weeks then so must the police. Now bearing this in mind and I think that there has to be someone from the safety committee that issue the safety certificate to the club monitoring games. Then how the club gets a safety certificate for that section of the ground is questionable

They were not Dingles trying to get in to the Vale stand they were Vale ******* who had left 10 minutes before who had ripped fencing down to get at the dingles but had found the old bill on the other side who gave them what they deserved and forced them back in. Unfortunately innocent Vale fans then got caught up in it, there was Vale idiots kicking off all the way back to the station, they wanted to fight anything that moved, I have also heard a Wolves fan has been stabbed.

Your the only *******round here pal, what a dumb *********** rumour you tried to fuel against your own fans. your equally just as an embarrassment as the minority of morons we have. Just to clarify a wolves fan got injured on railings trying to get at the vale fans. Hang your head in shame

Hi

Wolves fan in peace here, hope my views don't antagonise but I would like to offer my views on here. The only games there has been any trouble with Wolves this season is twice v Vale. There really has been so little, even Coventry game was relatively trouble free.

At Vale Park it was very tense and could have been extremely nasty outside but realise most of the trouble was with the police. It certainly became evident that a large number of Vale fans were looking for trouble towards the end of that game. I was sat in the South Bank yesterday, and although there is banter and chanting, it was blatantly obvious that a significant % of Vale fans were lads out of their heads on coke following a few leaders like sheep -is'nt that what hooligans do! Seemed around 300 in my opinion. Still it seemed fairly contained and we never really felt it would kick off inside. But I can fully appreciate the anger when items are thrown down from a tier above. I do think it is grossly exaggerated but once is too often. I know it sounds ridiculous but a fan in the upper tier said Vale fans were throwing things up only to bounce back and hit other Vale fans who then turned round in anger thinking Wolves fans had thrown things.

Wolves have previously had a reputation and a clear problem with hooliganism but to be fair over the last decade it has reduced considerably and these days it is mainly young teenagers. The older boys have retired and a number are still banned waiting a trial after the home game with Leeds last season. This is because West Midlands Police have been extremely active over many years with the use of CCTV to prosecute.

I have to say, and I expect you are going to jump all over me, that everywhere else also seems to have progressed over the same time period, I realise hooliganism has not gone away, but Stoke and Vale seem to continue to act as if it were the 1970's with impunity. The actions of yesterday were so overt and extreme it was virtually madness, like offering out families in boxes. I would have thought the Vale fans can expect a knock on the door soon. Or maybe they won't, because I am afraid it is apparent that Stoke police have always been very ineffective or backward in terms of utilising evidence. Honestly all it takes is a few dawn raids to sort them out - Wolves have had mant such operations with upto 70 being banned for five years. Wolverhampton Police used to track and follow Wolves mobs going by train from Wolverhampton, but that sort of proactiveness seems missing with Stoke police.

A Wolves fan was stabbed yesterday but is fortunately fine and discharged himself so can only presume it was minor. Can never appreciate that "Italian" style of fighting, I am sure most would agree.

Most of all, I feel sorry for ordinary Vale fans. I think they were as affected as anyone yesterday. I honestly think that to blame Wolves fans yesterday is ignoring a real problem Vale now seem to have. If I had to aportion blame yesterday I would say Wolves 20% Vale 80%. But I accept that is how I saw it and I maybe wrong. Thi s was not a big game like the Black Country derby, really just another league match with a bit of extra spice, but I wasn't really expecting the problems of yesterday. Having said that it was not the level of trouble that surprised me (seen far worse over the years unfortunately), but the sheer disregard for consequence and aggressive attitude of some Vale fans.

Hope for the sake of the club that they are weeded out. Because you have a serious hooligan problem. Stoke police need to wake up & get a lot more proactive.

Italian style fighting!?! Dont you mean knuckle dragging yam yam dead heads that struggle to to climb over railings? Save ur vicious rumours for millwall etc NOT OUR CLUB. Jog on dingle

Vale need to get rid of the in-bred lot that cause trouble. There should be a zero tolerance policy from the police when it comes to these

yobs. That is, if you're hanging around shouting abuse and causing trouble, you're no good to anyone so if you don't move out of the area we'll beat the **** out of you . Corner the *******s and then see how brave they are.

I have to say there is no excuse for our fans who most certainly went there for a bit of Neanderthal action but to see Vale fans being housed below Wolves fans - I mean who does that? Which moron thought that would be a good idea? The safety officer?

Like anymore incitement was needed for the brainless few.

Wolves need to take a large chunk of the responsibility for not being able to control a bubbling situation inside the ground - nothing that Vale could have been accused of at Vale Park.

I know what I saw even if certainly individuals choose not to believe. Anyways if we get a false reputation of stabbings and crap like that gets circulated amongst other clubs like Millwall if they go down lets just say there element of cretins are going to prepare for that in there own way which could have serious consequences for innocent fans

At no point during the programme did Dispatches explain how they would eject a whole block of supporters chanting offensive remarks can you imagine the carnage if say 20 were ejected.

It's not the job of the television company to come up with a solution, they were there to report the problem. If fans are breaking the law it's up to the authorities to arrest the culprits.Doing nothing is not an option, which is what's happening and why the problem is growing.
