Best result - difficult with so many to choose but 3 that stand the test of time for me : Stockport away to win promotion, Newcastle 2-2 after being 2-0 down and Arsenal 0-0........probably our most accomplished result ever away that I've seen.

Best Journey - It may not count as an away game, but Wembley in the Autoglass, never stopped either going, or especially coming back.

Best stopover - Barnsley away, Vale won 3-0 and we had to play in their away strip as the ref thought ours clashed. We stopped at my sisters friends who had organised a Country and Western Evening for their local community.....absolutely superb night out, stopped at a pub on the moors outside Sheffield for Sunday Lunch on the way back. Top weekend.

Closely followed by the weekend in Torquay when Robbie Earle's goal took us up.

One of the funniest away days I had was at Chesterfield [i think].. mid to late 70s, standing in line to go into the stand with my mate when a chesterfield supporter grabbed my arm and shoved a free ticket into my hand asking only if I was a vale supporter. My mate, adorned in vale hat, scarf, badges etc looked at me, with no regalia and shouted after the guy.... what the fing hell do you think I am an fing penguin... everyone in the line broke out in laughter and waddled forward. I cant remember much about the game except the offers of fish and clapping like seals.

Lots to choose from but special mention for Fulham 0 Vale 6 on Boat Race day. Andy Jones scored a hattrick having just been selected for Wales.

Best journey

Never like the journeys - just like getting there!

Best stop over.

Pre-season tours have been good, Isle of Man, Ireland, etc. Any trip to Torquay is always great. Does anyone remember those weekends that Jack Smith, one of the vice-presidents, use to run in the early 80s? We would set off from Vale at about 7 in the morning. Jack always reckoned reaching Trubshaw Cross meant we were outside the three mile limit and would open the bar for breakfast!
