From the last few games (particularly highlighting Barnet) I think the problem is Hughes doesn't work well off Pope. Pope gets the ball flung into him and flicks it on, or brings it down when he can but Hughes is often a long way off him. Hughes works hard and does run his socks off but it often leaves Pope horribly exposed. Dodds is a much better partner for Tom and I'd say Benji too.

 

Pope is the League's top scorer and he is getting marked as a result. Others need to use that because there must be space elsewhere. Hughes has the goal scorers awareness in the box and runs round reasonably well for his age. Better to have him than not for sure.

DOnt think he has been really great or really bad to be honest. DOne an honest shift each time, just never looked like scoring. Whether a deflection off his backside of 30 yard screamer.

WHat I want to know is though, why arent people blaming him for pope not scoring like they have been with hughes? Who lets be fair, is a better player.

andrews was signed as back up for forwards to get us through this season. hughes and williamson ill today, dodds struggling with fitness and andrews steps in and does his job. hes not a regular goalscorer but as a 5th choice striker what do people expect.

Pleased for him, I think there's something there and he gets a raw deal from many. I'd probably start Dodds but I also kinda trust Adams' judgement at this time.

Couldn't agree more. He's decent is Andrews and with match fitness I think he'd be a good league two squad player. League One is a whole different matter though.

I'm getting a hint of deja vu here. Some of the stuff I'm reading about Andrew being useless with an awful scoring record is the same as I was reading about Tom Pope last year.

Let's have a bit of fairness for the lad. He looked dangerous today, linked up well and was arguably our best player. He was a bit unlucky not to score another.

from what i've seen of andrew (which admittedly is probably less than most) he certainly hasn't been as bad as people have made out on this board

TF you say pope and Hughes struggle to form a partnership yet in 6 games together they have 5 between them!
