Slap a 2 million tag on him, that should keep the vultures away, unless of course they are serious, then we're looking at decent money instead of the higher clubs coming in and robbing the poorer teams of their best assets, as usual.

Prolific goalscorers are a rare find and Pope is in that category so far this season so his value is immeasurable imho and as for "cash strapped Port Vale" that went out the door with the demise of V2001 and exit of Bob and his merry band of asset sellers.

Le Fondre, Lambert and Grant Holt are the examples we need to barter with if somebody is going to come in with a serous bid. It would be a disaster if we sold him, but an absolute travesty if he went for less than 700k.

I think Tom could easily score goals in DIV 1 and the championship with the Vale. If he stays he could become a legend, wouldn't need to buy a drink in Burslem for the rest of his life ;)

Boomer's Vet has it spot on, and I said it before too. If Popey fires us to promotion and/or gets the goals record he will be able to hold his head up high in the Vale half of Stoke on Trent for the rest of his life as a hero for the club.

I would imagine he wouldn't have to buy too many pints for himself ever again if I saw him at the bar in 20 years time in a pub I'd certainly buy him a swift half!

 

Seriously though I then agree with AVIM, I wouldn't begrudge him a move in the summer, if it's what he wanted and we got a good fee fair enough, football is a short career as a player!
