He was good at his job. When he left us he went to work for the FA, more on a part-time basis. Currently working for Salford part-time and running the Cheshire County FA. I think he may still be doing some work for the FA as well. He was involved in the Cheshire FA throughout his time with us.

Yes, I believe so

It's easy to figure out, the squad was too big with little quality and very poor management from Moore.

It certainly needs cutting down but with hopefully a bit more quality added

I just hope we dont sign anyone until a change of recruitment is announced because imo that has got to happen, let Brady bring in his own team

This is the clubs announcement- it doesn’t suggest that there was any ill feeling…..

No, but there's always some conspiracy theory driven drama by Vale fans when somebody leaves. It's just a load of nonsense. And usually when someone insists that it's not, they are saying it because they 'know someone close to' who they trust so it must be true.

If it's not people bring up Garlick, it's people going on about Speedy. Or Nathan Smith. Or how things would have been better if we kept Tolaj.

You could put a bunch of Port Vale alumni on a bingo card and get a full house before long when there's an inquest.

Just the way it is. Micky Adams is still right all these years later.

We have a sell on clause as confirmed by Matt Hancock in an interview months ago, and in yesterdays Valiant by Baggers.

Interesting,   as Plymouth quite clearly stated that we haven't.  Who knows,  and we may never know. All seems to be undisclosed these days.  You would hope that as Plymouth couldn't pay the release clause up front, we would have had leverage to insert a sell on clause.  Clubs make statements that they know fans will want to hear sometimes.   Could be a considerable amount of money involved

I thought they’d stated there was no minimum release clause (see below), but as you say we may never know with undisclosed fees and confidentiality agreements the norm nowadays.

Yeah, Plymouth haven't said anything about us not having a sell on percentage but they did say that they haven't got a minimum release clause.

It's been confirmed by both Baggers and Matt Hancock that we have a percentage sell on fee. In summary, we've got a percentage sell on fee in there.

That’s what I thought was the case too, even before seeing the newspaper article. I think some fans/posters are either just innocently mixing up release clauses and sell on clauses or are genuine posters/fans and just don’t know but assume the worst case.  There may also be other posters who are just wum’s, realising the club may have another significant (for us) windfall coming our way.

I think we are going a bit off topic here aren't we? unless this about the CEO and Garlick etc is to do with summer tranfers 😉

Oh come on WSU

When has that ever stopped someone having a damned good moan on here...

Hopefully he will be sold early and Vale can then use the money to buy better players or pay off some of the dead wood.

Knowing Vale's luck it will be on the last day of transfer market. 🤣  Lady luck having a last kick at Vale.

You’re right the past can’t be changed but we can learn from it.

I certainly don’t want to see us unearth another gem next season, get promoted and then flog him after a few games in the higher division to any team that is struggling early doors and needs a good signing.

That can be prevented by ensuring there are clauses in contracts to stop that or at least decent contingency planning around our top players to ensure decent players are lined up.

We lost lots of top players under Rudge, but they generally got well replaced.

Just out of curiosity would you prefer us to:

a- sign another player of Tolaj's ilk and lose them again after a season for £1.2m
b- sign a player similar ilk to Matty Taylor, Mark Cullen or AJ Leitch Smith and them go after 1/2 years

Whilst it isn't an either or situation adding reasonable release clauses like Tolaj's certainly makes it easier to sign nation league upstart who are in demand. I purposely chose the 3 strikers for the comparison as they were players with a reasonable level of experience and past success who you could argue did or didn't work out for us.

Also was Paton's minimum release clause set too low?

AJ Leitch-Smith was a good find, it was only Smurthwaite trying to penny pinch which made him leave...
