Really? Fascinating. (Went there myself for one year before I had to change). They were all about highlighting alumni Paterson and Owen back in those days.

He’s down the pecking order of alumni after Levison Wood, Adam Peaty and actress Rachel Shenton…

It has been mentioned many times that the tackle on Byers at Mansfield was a particularly vicious one, in fact Brady mentioned it after the Stockport game , so tell me...It wasnt a strain or a tear so how are you supposed to play football with a broken bone ?

Spot on, some people keep spewing the same crap.

The Mansfield player BROKE Byers foot.  You cant play with a broken foot and its been reported umpteen times on here.

It was reported many times, its  the same as Tolajs contract, some just refuse to believe because it doesn't suit their agenda, or they just like the attention they get by deliberately ignoring the facts.

You’re not and it may be bad luck, but equally James Wilson wasn’t going around injuring himself. Yet many would say Wilson was poor value and worth getting rid of, so what of Byers?

I can’t think of any Vale player who was injured through their own fault or lifestyle.

Spot on, you could highlight the tackle on Wilson at Sheff Weds was also a shocker ! like you say, if you point fingers at Wilson the same should apply to Byers.

I don't doubt that any of Byers's injuries throughout his career are genuine. Nor do I doubts Michael Walsh's injuries, Lee Matthews etc etc. He will almost certainly be here next season. Even if Brady doesn't want him; although I suspect he does from his comments. The reason is other clubs will look at his record over his careers for missing games, plus he is about to turn 30 and not want to take a chance. Some players for whatever reason do get injured much more than others. It isn't just a one season thing with him, all players have an injury disrupted season or two in their career. In Byers case he has only achieved 30 league appearances once in a season and has never managed 25 starting appearances in what is now a long career. If he has a third season at the club churning out 15 or 16 league starts then there has to be a serious debate over whether we offer a new contract; he is almost certainly a big earner. It doesn't really matter if he has a body which is prone to injuries or he is just unlucky. Napoleon famously said he'd always take a lucky general over a more skilled one.

Well ide offer byers a pay as you play contract he either takes It or he leaves the club,it might sound drastic but it would be entirely in his hands 🤔😁

If he s still under contract  he holds a lot of the cards.

We could transfer list him but if we re having to pay him top dollar it may be counter productive as we may as well focus on getting the best out of him while we re paying him.

If his contract is up though I d let him go. I don’t think we will want a 6million loss to get us up this time and I think his wage demands may be over and above sensible league 2 wage.

Byers is our best player in my opinion but for whatever reason, he's susceptible to injury. Some players are just unlucky or just don’t absorb knocks the way that others do.

IF we can get 35+ games out of him for once in his career, it would be like an additional signing.

On a new, quality pitch, he'd be far better than most in league 2.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely.
