Byers is our best player in my opinion but for whatever reason, he's susceptible to injury. Some players are just unlucky or just don’t absorb knocks the way that others do.

IF we can get 35+ games out of him for once in his career, it would be like an additional signing.

On a new, quality pitch, he'd be far better than most in league 2.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely.

I do seem to recall a Wednesday fan coming on after we had signed him to say we had a great player, as long as we could keep him fit.

And not only that, but we ended up playing him different to how Wednesday did.

Scored a decent amount of goals for them. I'm scared to see him shoot in a Vale shirt though, rarely comes off for him.

The reason the likes of Byers get injured so often is that, as at Mansfield, they get targeted by the opposition thug. They work on the principle, stop Byers and you stop Vale.

Yeah the better players get special "attention". Ultimately though Byers body just doesnt't stand up to it or recover from it.  Some players are just naturally better at avoiding/recuperating better. Shame really.

Ollie Arblaster looks to be in a similar situation at the moment. Which would be a real shame as the lad is class on and off the field.

Hopefully he will be sold early and Vale can then use the money to buy better players or pay off some of the dead wood.

Knowing Vale's luck it will be on the last day of transfer market. 🤣  Lady luck having a last kick at Vale.

Plymouth have 2 strikers bigger clubs are sniffing around with 1 probably heading out of the door. Hopefully its Tolaj as I also heard we had a sell on clause. Also heard that Tolajs agent is active in always wanting to move his player on. Plymouth apparently are looking at Kabia from Grimsby as a replacement, my Grimsby mate tells me they had him from Truro.

We don't really have a crystal ball, so unless you want rubbish players opposition don't worry about, then we can't really be sure that players won't pick up injuries from rough play.

As far as muscle injuries go that might be brought on by overplaying players we have actually been fairly good.

If it's not Byers then it would be another player singled out. He's unlucky but something like a broken foot isn't like Beckenbauer being able to play on with a broken arm or Kurt Angle winning Olympic Medals with a broken neck.

Tolaj is 100% moving on, his career pathway and progression makes this very clear. He wasn't getting a pathway at Brighton so is doing it the hard (and smart way), coming up through the leagues as the star player at each club, standing out to increase his market value to prospective clubs.

I don't think it has anything to do with his agent other than Tolaj is an ambitious player and he's been advised quite well in his career moves so far. Fair play to him, and very smart from him IMO.

I really hope to see him playing in Europe next season, if he does that and does well, and then he will get another move in 12-18 months and really put himself in the frame for the Swiss Euros squad.

The comment about his agent came from someone who spoke to him, yes agree Tolaj is ambitious to play as high as he can. His agent is also very keen for him to do so for financial reasons.

Same is said about most of our signings.

Gabriel, Humphreys, Sherif, Magloire.

Terrible recruitment policy.

I reckon both Lorent and Pepple will leave Plymouth in the Summer Pepple has a release clause in his contract as well so you imagine that a club will activate it.

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere (could have been on OVF) that Pepple’s release clause is £600k. Can a player refuse to go if the clause is met? If not, why don’t we buy him/get him in part exchange for what remains of the Tolaj fee?😉

Chris Wilder interview - Ollie is highly regarded at SUFC and they are building him up to be a key player next season -

Come on!. Why on earth would he come to the Vale.Could offer to double his wages and it would still not tempt him. Not to us as supporters, but Vale are just a run of the mill fourth division club to the rest of the world!!

Dreaming I know, but what a statement signing he would be for us.

Not sure a player of his ability will join a side in league 2…
