Summer transfer rumours/speculation and retained list

Featured Replies

If it’s our decision which we assume from Onel’s talk of wanting to stay it probably is that’s a bad start to the summer. Clearly a player still with bags of talent and the ability to excite the fans. On our wide pitch with it brand new he’d have been a cheat code.

I was just about to post about that
What I will say is,if we aren't making him an offer to stay then it will need to be one hell of a signing to replace as he is the one real quality player that we have in the squad

Terrible decision.

It might not just be down to us tbf,it could be down to the player

Sounds like were not signing onel by his latest tik tok basically saying thanks for the support and good luck next season

What's with the 😉 at the end of his post for though. For all we know he could be tricking us all although reading his post that seems unlikely but you never know. Plus Brady has said that he is talking to the players on Tuesday so I doubt Onel will know at this moment in time if he is being offered a new contract or being released.

I’d offer him a contract he couldn’t refuse

Only if it wasn't detrimental to the overall building of the squad.

If he wants a big wage (he's been on championship wages for years) it could hinder us getting quality throughout the team.

I like him, would definitely like to keep him, but certainly not for daft money.

We need to get a lot of things right this summer.

I really hope today finally stops people clamouring for Sheriff. He's had one good game since he's been here. Genuinely no better than Loft.

I'll reserve judgement until the retained list is out. Sheriff is no where near it. There are many others not even up to League 2 standard. Please don't be fooled.

100% agree with this

The one most important thing in this rebuild is bringing in strikers who can actually score plenty of goals,so i agree i really want Hernandez to sign but not for stupid money

I dont know how to put it on here but Gillingham have already released their retained list,no names of note on there though imo

I agree we have to get it right mate but I was thinking give him half of Grays wage plus whatever he’s on atm. Should be a decent wage that.

Daughter was in hospitality yesterday,  Onal was MOM and thus made a short speech. She told me last night that everything was in the past tense. It seemed obvious he wouldn't be here next season.  We were hoping it was a language glitch ( English not being his native tongue).  But clearly not.

As Brady isn't even talking to the players until Tuesday,  I would read that as this is Onals decision.  Probably,  as posted above, used us as a short term contract to get fit and put himself in the shop window.

Guessing he will be above L2?

He is certainly a league one player that's for sure and also if he is fit and I was recruiting at Lincoln i would be looking at him after yesterday

Retained list is going to go as follows

deal offered to sherif

onel has left the club.

I will shortly after reading that be lobbing my toaster in the bath and jumping in

For everyone having a go at the club (again), consider this:

Vale sign him because he has real quality and think he can help them stay up, but is a free agent and clearly unfit.

So they offer him a basic contract and work on his fitness to try and get him up to speed. He accepts as he has no other offers.

He gets fit, plays well and is clearly our best player in a sorry season - even when he only arrived in January

But that form now means he has other offers - maybe closer to home - which could be his priority.

We offer him a reasonable deal FOR A 33 YEAR OLD, but he wants to take an offer to a club presumably nearer to where his family is, and maybe from a club in a better position to spend a fair degree of their transfer budget in a 33 year old winger.

Maybe Vale offered him something based on his age and fitness weighed up against the budget?

Maybe they didn't, as the usual suspects seem to think, told him to get stuffed and leave so we can laugh at the fans again.

If we were ten points clear at the top of the Premier League some of you lot would still bloody moan.

Even if we make an offer isn`t he likely to see what other offers come in?

I feel like this comment would be valid if we had just had a remotely enjoyable season.

weve just had one of our worst. In a season that was billed as a celebration. Weve backed the club and what we have seen on the pitch has been unacceptable.

onel has been a bit of light in a pretty dark season so i think fans would think maybe the club would keep him as they can see how much the fans have taken to him.

so there is obviously going to be a bit of upset if he isnt staying regardless of who's decision it was
