Summer transfer rumours/speculation and retained list

Problem is, we will struggle to get rid of all of the dross, then the better players wont want to play in lg2

The dross we could put into a field and they would just go around in circles or just stand there looking at each other, as no one will take command and get them out of the field.  🤣

Hoping the better players will stay and form the basis of the squad so we can get a challenge on getting out of Div 2 again.

Loft was crap, sheriff is just raw and inexperienced. Big difference.

You are right. There is difference. Sheriff is raw, inexperienced and crap.

Doesn't hold the ball up, doesn't win headers, no strength for a big lad and can't finish.

A player is still crap whether they're 19 or 25. Fans moan about us signing crap, but want us to sign crap, just because they're young. I really don't get it.

It's the same as last season with fans wanting us to sign Cover permanently because he was young. He was still crap. Just as Rotherham have found out this season.

Chatted to a Plymouth fan this morning and he feels several of their better players are off.  As he said Tolaj is just too good to stay in Lg 1 and will be gone very quickly.  As for their other striker he will be off as well.

As he said another task for the manger to rebuild his squad as it will be picked by the bigger clubs in Championship and Lg 1.

If we had had Walters on loan from a prem club this season instead of him being home grown people would be saying exactly the same thing about him.

Don’t worry. Magliore 2 deal!

That is a worry for Vale showing ambition of getting out of Lg 2.  With him it will be relegation again.  As JB said - Team is consistent at being inconsistent.  He is one of those players who falls into that group.  You can't rely on him not making serious mistakes.

Just can't wait for the retained list and hoping its out soon.  This will show how much ambition the club really has at getting out of Div 2 in the right direction.

The poor-quality players at our club are a direct result of offering long contracts and paying some individuals more than they could command at other clubs. To put it clearly, this relegation has its roots firmly in the relegation we suffered two seasons ago. As a fan base, we cannot allow this to happen again, or we will ultimately end up in non-league football.

I'm seeing a lot of love for certain players who have let us down all season and delivered a diet of desperate rear guard actions, bore draws and the second lowest goals tally in the entire efl as they meekly surrendered our hard won league one status, some of them for the second time.

We are all doing it. Perhaps its time we admitted that they just aren't good enough and if we sign them up again they will let us down again.

Is anyone in this squad a must keep? I can't think of one if I am really honest.

Like everyone else I have my favourites and I contradict myself often but honestly when I see the retained list next week I think that whoever leaves I will most probably be more disappointed by who we are keeping than who we are losing.

I’m thinking Archer as a loan and a wide player could be useful. Though I wouldn’t sign him permanently and I bet he’s going to stay in L1. Not sure on his contract situation. Garrity as a leader and quality-wise is good enough, but he’ll be getting more and more expensive with contract renewals and I think we would get more game time out of an equally decent player elsewhere. I would of course be sad to see our passionate captain leave.

I've got a cheeky tenner that says he gets bought by Posh

So, are you saying get rid of all 30+ players. The whole. Start again...??

Peterborough wanted him last season before Luton sweeped in and got him first.

Hernandez or not, the priorities for me are a reliable, no nonsense goalkeeper, and a big striker.

Not necessarily older, experienced ones, but ones we can rely on to play week in, week out.

I really like the look of the keeper at Rochdale who is on loan from Man City.

He has a great name too: Oliver Whatmuff.

If that is what he's implying, then he doesn't understand the contract system!

No doubt JB already has had chats with Onel on how Onel sees his future. No point in building hopes on him if he is not interested, would he fancy playing in L2? Hope I am wrong but being practical.

On OVF front page today (Sunday) it looks like he's already gone!

Better yet don't watch them at all. Complete waste of time.

IMO Brady appears to be pretty honest and direct with his comments so far. He makes a lot more sense than DM ever did, but can JB walk the walk? We'll know a lot more when we see the retained list and summer signings.
