Summer transfer rumours/speculation and retained list

Really surprised Onel is not staying. To me he would be our differencial player in league 2 but Brady must know what he is doing.

No doubt JB already has had chats with Onel on how Onel sees his future. No point in building hopes on him if he is not interested, would he fancy playing in L2? Hope I am wrong but being practical.

Whatever they do will bring criticism. But I wouldn’t be offering an unfit 33 year old wide player who seems to me to be a bag of tricks but suspiciously lacking in goals or assists and not much cop out of possession anything more than a short contract on big standard league 2 wages.

Takes more than one player usually to score a goal or convert an assist attempt usually, in fairness.

Fair enough if you feel that way, maybe we should just bin them all.

Don’t worry. Magliore 2 deal!

Nope he's out of contract this summer @valefan16

Assume He will go, although ok in L2. Defensively probably needs the least work, if Gabriel, John, Humphreys, Hall, Headley and Gordon remain your probably only needing depth, could see Magloire being kept in that case as back up, and he has done well in L2 for Brady before, I wouldn’t want him first choice though, but if those stay and we maybe look for a replacement for Heneghen (although don’t mind him myself) then I’d focus the main budget on elsewhere. Our current defence is probably good enough to get us out of L2.

Put a solid keeper behind it the main focus.

I think the time’s come for a big clear out. Not out of spite or to punish the relegated players, but because we can spend the wages on more athletic, younger players and rebalance the squad with wide options.

Thanks to C.Hall, Croasdale, Stockley - all of whom I really respect for their dedication in often turbulent times, and their ability and of course the promotion they contributed to. But we need all the space available to repurpose positions and personnel and I wouldn’t be looking to renew many if any contracts at all.

I’d assess where Byers’ head is at regarding scouting for a new place to be, but if he’s entrenched I wouldn’t renew Garrity - can’t have that sort of money tied up in players that don’t play. Reviewing medical records in a prudent way, to be honest I’d let him go anyway probably.

Humphreys, Gabriel, Gordon, G.Hall I’d keep, Onel I’d keep, maybe 1 or 2 others as well but surely John is too injury prone too? I know some others listed above are but that’s where we have to be smart.

I think Brady will be inclined to release players and a few players who might be expecting an offer, or the fans might be expecting to have something offered to them, will be told to leave. I think it is clear from his responses that he is very frustrated with the lack of ability in this current squad and he directly compares individual players to opposition options to highlight how behind we are in terms of being competitive in league one. That mentality is not going to translate into numerous contract offers in my opinion, and that is what I think is best for the club.

Archer will surely be in the Luton squad in L1, or another L1 squad. But I’d have him back.

Yes.

All gone. Ta ta.

Just looked and I think we’re joint 13th for goals conceded this season. Just goes to show the near complete lack of firepower has completely destroyed the season.

Give Onel what he wants.

I don’t care that he’s 33. When he’s on the team sheet I feel optimistic. When he’s got the ball you feel like something can happen. He’s an exciting player. Apart from George Hall, none of our other forward players give me that.

He would not only be incredible in L2, but he would also be such a good mentor for Hall, Waine (who I think looks far better on the left) and another young promising winger that we can find.

I’m hoping the winking emoji at the end is more ‘we will see each other again’. Yes the post doesn’t sound the most promising but it could be him just thanking fans for his time here currently and if it is done then so be it.

With Onel it is a massive concern that it took him so long to get fully match fit and even now that the season has ended I still don't think he is fully match fit.

Even a half fit Onel is miles better than George Hall.

Nearly every ball Hernandez plays is weight perfect. He also has the ability to carry the ball halfway up the pitch.

If you opened the gates in the Paddock, George would be at The Vine before anyone realised he was missing

I really hope today finally stops people clamouring for Sheriff. He's had one good game since he's been here. Genuinely no better than Loft.

A very unfair, and a bit silly, comparison.

I wouldn't particularly want to sign sheriff but I can see there may be some potential there for development. He is 19 years old and had made the grand total of 10 senior appearances when we brought him in whereas loft was 25ish when we brought him in and had well over 100 senior appearances under his belt. Loft was crap, sheriff is just raw and inexperienced. Big difference.

If it’s our decision which we assume from Onel’s talk of wanting to stay it probably is that’s a bad start to the summer. Clearly a player still with bags of talent and the ability to excite the fans. On our wide pitch with it brand new he’d have been a cheat code.

Players & managers only say things in interviews what they think the fans want them to say.

Always take interviews with a pinch of salt

Better yet don't watch them at all. Complete waste of time.
