Too many bad decisions

Another wasted campaign in league 1 our second in 3 years

We dont have the financial muscle compete

A small club whos limit is promotion too league 1 then stand there and go this is hard we cannot do it  and go down and annoy numerous support

I cannot not watch league 2 again

If Hernandez signs i will go say 10 games max if not none ...

Goodbye Vale and good luck in future.

I will hope when pop in read forum that theres great passionate support, commenting on games not support who go and not encourage and it comes across like that when commenting on threads

Pepple has the best striker in the division alongside him, that makes a massive difference, great ball by Tolaj to set up the first goal. Also, Plymouth play attacking football, even down to 10 men they kept 2 centre forwards on the pitch.

I’d keep 4 centre forwards on with 10 men against our lot any day of the week.

That Ballard is the best in League One, not Tolaj.

No chance Tolaj class best in league in my eyes by country mile.

Fair to Ballard he’s top scorer in an awful Orient side, would be mad they can go down with the leagues top scorer. Can’t happen often!

Plymouth were bottom when Tolaj went there Tolaj massive to  there top  6 hope.
Best striker in this division he assists he scores not much the lad can’t do a let’s not forget all this he’s not long had nearly 2 months out aswell. He’ll be a champ striker next season one way or another.

He’s done very well, yes, he’s only 21 but it’s his first season banging goals in and Tolaj has a better goal average as he has played less games.

Either way it’s a fair bet than both Ballard and Tolaj will be on the radars of other teams.

This just shows how we have GOT TO change the recruitment team and that should be the first thing we do and a new recruitment team will already have their own list of players who they have scouted etc

I am still holding out a bit of hope that we can persuade Foyle to leave Carlisle and join Brady again,at least he will know the type of player Brady wants,he also has a decent reputation in the game

Should know a goalscoring striker when he sees one.

In your opinion

Tolaj goal every 1.6 games and 6 assists

Bollard goal every 1.7 games and 4 assists in more games.

Also, do Orient play with 2 centre forwards?

Not my opinion. Fact.

He was literally named Player of the Season.

I’ll say Ballard because it’s too depressing to think that in a season of yet another daft decisions we let the best player in the division and our league 1 status walk away in September.

People try to comfort ourselves with the old bull of “oh we had no choice, Plymouth paid his release clause” but I can’t think of any other club that would sign a player that enabled them to leave for relative pennies in the same league.

Plus it was Plymouth, a team that if we are to stay ever in league 1, will need to compete with.

We should have used every tool we have to have kept him, even if we paid him £1 million pounds in his hand to just stay and finish the season. Would have been far better value than wasting money on those other donkeys we bought to replace him.

Bet they don’t let either leave for rival clubs in the same league or have stupid paltry release clauses.

People can say that about the clause but if that was the difference between him signing here or going elsewhere I just think this is being wise after the event. At the time he was signed he was a National League forward who had flopped everywhere on loan in the EFL before who cost us say £150-200k at a guess? At the most conservative estimate that clause got us back X5 the initial investment which is probably what Plymouth will get when he’s sold on. And people can say “why didn’t you renegotiate after promotion?”. The simple answer to that is it takes two sides to make a deal.

If you want to criticise anything the lack of contingency / continuity planning after the sale is where it should be directed. That is more than legitimate.

1.2 million pounds is paltry? You must be minted pal. Why don't you put some of that fortune you have into helping run the vale?

Our record transfer fee still received is Ainsworth for £2 million in 1998 not adjusted for inflation. So Tolaj went for less than a player we had 28 years ago!!

Putting release clauses in lower than that is just not on. Oh you can quibble about his will, but I still have no idea how such a low figure for Tolaj was reached? Nobody triggers a release clause unless a player does well, so why did anyone think such a low figure was acceptable? Why not a club in same league clause? That’s reasonable.

in negotiation we can easily say to Tolaj if he said that was unacceptable..so which clubs in leagues 1 or 2 would you rather play for if they came along than Vale? That would soon sort that out.

I have also never heard or seen any evidence to suggest that if such a figure was not agreed he would sign elsewhere, except hearsay. I also doubt that if he had gone to say one of the rivals, say Bradford or Notts C as rumoured at the time, that they would let him go or agree to so little.

Can you imagine say, had it been Bradford who actually finished below us last season after many more years in league 2 had signed him and Plymouth came along that he would honestly have left Bradford in league 1?

I can’t imagine it. Yet Vale somehow, it wasn’t just imaginable but expected.

It is for any league 1 club, which is what we are competing with. You’re not competing with me for league 1 football, you’re competing with other owners of other clubs to whom yes, £1.2 million is paltry for a good player, as even Brady himself has alluded to in his interview yesterday.

If Vale were competing with my wealth and Carol was, we’d be in the premier league. We are not…we are competing with billionaires, Hollywood stars and oil sheiks.
