Installing confidence within the squad that we are capable of scoring the first goal is difficult, it has been lacking for too long. Over the next few weeks Brady needs to find the solution, probably from within the current squad.

I think you mean scoring full stop.  It doesn’t have to be the first goal.  If we’re 1 nil down in a game an equaliser would earn us a point.  2 nil down and pulling back to 2-1 alters the game.  Goals not only win games but change the course of a game.  We simply don’t score enough.

Unfortunately, Mansfield fans did say that Waine was nowhere near this level. Shipley also couldn't get a game some weeks in an awful Shrewsbury team. Marosi we thought might be ok, Brown ditto as he'd been making the Derby squad. Where I think most of us knew we hadn't done enough was in central defence. To bring only one 1st team central defender in was criminal. We've seen before that Hall and Debrah aren't quite up to this level.

I for one knew Marosi was a terrible signing. Agree with the rest though, although I did think Shipley was a decent signing from what I saw of him previously. My view on that has changed though

I was thinking that with scoring so few goals, the pressure of conceding a goal becomes a mountain. Thus also putting pressure on scoring the first. We just have to find a new route to goal, whether with new players or new methods. Brady has a job on.

Special issue of the Valiant tomorrow. I wonder why?

Would imagine it’ll be a write up of this as seems to have been a meeting between the club and supporters advisory whatever it is.

I know people are saying we shouldn't sign anyone this window lets wait and strengthen in the summer for League 2.... well I have to say i aren't of that mindset yet and i certainly hope that the club and the manager aren't either

There are still a lot of points to play for and i am sticking with that if we are 6 points off with 10 games to go then we have a good shot at it,so for me if we can then i would strengthen now with 2 or 3 players to help with that fight but also ones who will battle for promotion if we did go down and i do think we will bring those players in along with letting a few more go

Lets not throw the towel in just yet

Good post. Also I would question the mentality of the player who wants to come to a league 2 club hoping for an easy life at a well funded league 2 club than wanting to come in and fight for league 1 status.

Mathematically we aren’t down, mentally we are. Even with a few wins under our belt, somehow, the minute we lose the 1st goal heads will go. It’s going to take such a long time and a clear out to change that mentality “here we go again” when we concede. That mentality extends to the fans as well. We all feel it.

Alan, Ok that’s a bit weird to pull me up on a phrase  Here we go again it a phrase… as in I’m saying here we go again same old story. Of course I only speak for myself.

Do you actually read what you write, or is it merely kneejerk whinging?

You presume to claim that all Vale fans feel the same way that you do.

Then, when your presumption is pointed out, you claim that you are only speaking for yourself.

In direct contradiction of your own words written on the same page.

Get over yourself, MBE, and actually speak only for yourself.

And not for the Vale fans who don’t indulge in your self-fulfilling defeatism.

I know this suggestion will totally divide opinion, but what about Ryan Colclough? He is a burslem lad who has no club? Means no fee, maybe on a pay as you play deal or with performance based incentives?

He was let go by chesterfield because he has had off the field problems but on his day he is a top end league 2/bottom end league 1 left winger who is direct and can chip in with a goal, with a Brady arm round him he may excel?

Maybe I have lost the plot I don’t know, but I’m clutching at straws to see some new faces arrive!!

Most of all it is the players attitude that will make the difference, supporters will follow.

Just been released by Fylde. The last sentence about the club making no further comment on the matter indicates there is some off field issues with him. The amount of clubs he has been at would probably back that up.

Interesting there was no mention of trying to stay up, and a tacit admission that very little will happen in the transfer window.

I think we can draw our own conclusions from that.

Sorry but that is load of waffle. Not convinced at all.

Seems to me the focus is reducing the squad size which I do agree with.

But yeah while they'll never outright say it maybe there is an understanding of what our fate is most likely to be.

Hancock implied that there would be business both ways, more in than out, but that was the managers preference. In Baggers newsletter it says we are wanting more wide players / wingers, so I don't think we've given up yet.

According to Wikipedia he's on trial in April for GBH......Just what we need in midfield a bit of steel 😀
