I like Clark. The biggest issue with him is his final ball into the box, which is generally rubbish. I think Rob posted he's a better wingback. His football journey was he initially signed for us as a right centrehalf who could play fullback. He started playing wingback at Accrington. For all his effort in the final third I don't think he ever quite mastered what to do when he got there.

If true it's unfortunate.  Wouldn't bet against him returning again at some point,  he always seem to.

You're not wrong! - link

Never ever got the love in for Mitch Clark. His output for us has always been poor. Hardly any assists or goals at any time with us and even looking at his other stats on FotMob they don’t make for great reading either.

That's often quoted, but if we are to get that points difference back we will need to win games, hence improving the goal difference and teams above will need to lose games, hence worsening their goal difference

You've mentioned all his good qualities. Those qualities don't mean much when he picks up the ball with his back to goal or anywhere outside the final 3rd. Yes, he's a striker but there's more to the game than set pieces and one on one's. That's the part of his game that needs a lot of work, and it's a big part of the game. Anyway, it looks like he's gone now so that's that.

I take your point BM but Paton can play with his back to goal and lay the ball off, I've seen it with my own eyes, Paton is tenacious and not easily knocked fairly off the ball, he's got a lower center of gravity.

He's probably not as good at this art as a Stockley and he hasn't got Stockley's height and these may be the reasons why Moore/Brady didn't see him as a striker.

It seems these days to be classified as a striker you need to be at least 6' 2" tall, although there are advantages as a striker to be tall and strong, I wonder where that would have left the likes of Gerd Muller, Jimmy Greaves, I'm not saying Paton is that good!!! As you say, could be all mute now.

Agree about his final ball. He often storms up the wing and messes up his final ball. Another issue is his injury record. He made his league debut for us 8 years ago and since then he has played 165 league games.

Arsenal in discussion to sign James Wilson, apparently.

(on loan from Hearts to join their academy, but gave me a chuckle)

Totally disagree with it, no1 can say Mitch dsnt gv 100% & doesn't shirk a challenge irrespective of the injuries he has suffered.

Looks like we're stuck with 4 goalkeepers (including davies) for the rest of the season. Marosi has the best gig going. Paid to sit in the boxes every Saturday and the odd Tuesday
