Just seen that Elliot Lee has signed for Donny until the end of season, most laughed about that shout but he has gone to a team in the bottom 4 of league 1.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I hoped we at least enquired!

But they are not 11 points adrift at the bottom like we are.

Ben Garrity past his best? He's 28 and turned professional just over 5 years ago lol

Yes and he has had injury after injury he is not technically gifted he hasn't got any pace he is all about giving 100 percent which is fine but those injuries have taken the edge of him in terms of stamina for me he wasn't great last season and he has been terrible this season we need more than players who run about if we ever want to get away from being a yoyo club.

Sorry if this is circling back to an old topic but on Will Ryder leaving, the stat in the last paragraph of this article is pretty damning:

https://trainingground.guru/port-vale-academy-director-exits-for-new-opportunity/

Screengrab here:

Screenshot2026-02-02122157.png.3e2dad30a93f8955b3adcdc9370c47db.png

The article itself is only available to premium subscribers but the "Academy Productivity Rankings" (according to AI) measure the success of English football academies by "ranking clubs based on the number of graduates playing in the top five European leagues and the top English divisions, with weighted points for higher-level appearances."

So, it's pretty rubbish that only two clubs currently fare worse than Vale in that ranking! I have read elsewhere that Chelsea are top with a score of 168.04 while Grimsby are 80th with a score of 3.82 so Gawd knows what Vale's score was.

Rob, I once read an article in the Daily Telegraph written by a Professor at Staffordshire University, in relation to academies. He was saying then, what a waste of time academies were, when you factor in the cost of them and the number of players that they turn out who then go onto play for their clubs first team. The study was only based on EPL clubs. The conclusion being that they’d rather purchase a finished player than take their chance with someone who they have developed themselves. Since then Chels have been fined for mopping up all the young talent around the globe and rules were brought in to protect smaller clubs, in relation scouting far and wide. However any rules put in place can be navigated around by the fat cats of football.

Its not about loyalty or fighting, its just a job to them.

It's laughable the idea that they owe the club anything, really, just for paying them a wage.

Ask these fans if they would stay in their current job 'for the fight' if their place of work was going through a restructure or whether they'd find somewhere else to get their payday.

Well, if @BigDaveQPR has posted it to his seven followers then it must be right...

Although I guess he may have got it off another account with more know-how.

I suspect Walters may be one in demand - be interesting to see if there is any concrete interest and the club's reaction if there is.

Don’t know what you mean rob, big Dave sounds trustworthy to me. I’d buy a used car off him anyway.

Not his pot noodles then?

Not the kind of name you'd want to hear if you were paired up with someone in a prison cell

You are spouting out some rubbish just lately.

Football is all about cliche's and spin.

The problem with you is that you believe everything that you read which is an absolute sad state to be in.

Also, something that I have stated many times over the weekend and which other people have also stated, is that teams like Luton and Plymouth are bigger clubs than Port Vale that can offer better wages, better pays days including signing on fee's.

Once a team bigger than bottom of the table Port Vale come in for them, they are always going to move.

Cole said that he wanted to go after he Luton made an offer for him, nothing wrong with that at all.

This thing about not wanting to stay for the fight is absolute rubbish. It's about bettering themselves and earning more money in the process which people like you completely fail to understand because it hurt's you when a player wants to play for another team other than the mighty Vale.

The way players get absolutely slaughtered just because they dare want to play for somebody else is getting ridiculous.

Its not about loyalty or fighting, its just a job to them.

You talk about not answering the question, I asked you not so long ago why you think Matt Hancock's job is untenable & should be sacked, which you have failed to answer.

I dont believe everything i read that's just a silly comment

You stated that a poster was spreading BS by saying that Cole wanted out,now all i am saying is that i dont think it was BS to say that when Cole himself said he wanted to go,so how is that poster spreading BS?

I am old enough and stupid enough to know there is no loyalty in football anymore

As for Hancock, maybe I went ott there mainly because i was angry with the Moore situation being dragged out,so emotion probably got the better of me there and i will hold my hands up to that

I actually like a lot of the stuff you post and think that you are quite a sensible poster most of the time 😉 but this is just something we clearly dont agree on

The source of the Cole fallout is Unofficial Vale which says everything you need to know but that’s fine to disagree.

I agree with all your points there KS, in that he has had some nasty injuries, and he probably isnt at the levels of his first season or two and he isnt as technically gifted as some, but for me, BGs stamina seemed ok for 100 minutes on Saturday - first game back as well - and we won, Also didnt see many of the opposition breeze straight by him.

GR was talking about people in the trenches earlier - BG is the kind of guy id want in there.💜💜👍😁

We will need 11 points to get out of the bottom 4 because of how bad the goal difference is

Please, we don't need to know about your favourite pastimes in your private time 😉

that's very true unless we can pluck a 20-0 from somewhere
