If we were struggling and getting comfortably beaten, then you would have a point. Our position doesn't reflect our performances, we have been the better team in the majority of our matches

Moore will given untill Christmas.

We’ve got the right amount of points. We can’t keep saying we’re unlucky when we make school boy errors and can’t hit a barn door up front. The two most important areas of the pitch we have been poor. I’m happy for him to have time and don’t want him gone but if we fail to win any of the first 10 games I would seriously question his position. Can’t just say give him to Christmas, it could be too late by then

Askey was sacked after 0 wins in 6.

Clarke was sacked after 2 wins in 18.

Crosby was sacked after 1 win in 8.

The main issue wasn't stats though, it was several weeks of poor performances (off the pitch for Clarke, apparently).

We can't keep playing reasonably well and losing. Eventually we'll start to win games or confidence will shatter in the players and we'll start playing badly and losing. Everybody is aware that if the first doesn't happen then we'll have to find a new manager.

I'm not buying this rhetoric that Garrity is in the injury prone category.

He's made 173 appearances in all comps in 4 seasons(with only 14 off the bench) that's an average of 43 a season.  Say Vale play 55 games on avg(League + around 9/10 cup games).  That would be less than 30 (which despite 2 injuries last season) he just managed.  His other seasons have been 53, 37 and 55 games respectively.  I genuinely just think he's had a bad spell I certainly wouldn't be labelling him anywhere near the injury prone category yet.

I just think when making a decision you have to look at it in context. There have been times under certain managers like say the end of John Askey or Andy Crosby where the results and performances at the end were awful and getting worse. If suddenly the team does a quit job like the final game for Croz at Fleetwood then it’s a conversation for me but for now I’m happy to see things out. Not least as I just feel once we get one win DM’s history suggests he’s a streaky manager and we go on a run.

Paton has to start for me today with Cole. Otherwise you could argue you'd be rewarding failure from the other forwards.   I thought he was excellent 2nd half last week and very unlucky not to score, the shot their keeper tipped over was excellent technique and deserved a goal really.  Genuinely feel there's a good player in there and he's worked on his game/fitness despite some saying he's NLN standard based on about 5 starts🙄

I don't disagree that Paton is worth a punt.  I think that the word excellent has been over used in describing his performance, but there were at least flashes of something positive, which is more than the other options have offered.  Faal should be used as an impact sub if we are trailing.  Maybe use Brown if we are winning and just need some fresh legs.

I think that is what is going in Moore's favour, the fact that performances apart from the odd half haven't been poor and I am sure we can all agree on that even Treacle Valiant

At some point in their late 20s to early 30s most players become injury prone; then retire. I think Garrity is in that age group. As you say it's less clear if he's just had a bad run or if his body is starting to feel the strain. Only time will tell. What is true is that football career have always been short and seem to be decreasing in length. Probably fair to say that as a player who relies heavily on his work rate he's probably got a maximum of 4 more seasons left. I'd imagine most fans would hope he stays fit enough to achieve all 4.

Agree with your main point, Paton and Ojo changed the game for me for 25 mins or so and did more than anyone else had aside from obviously Cole and Croasdale. I think he deserves the excellent tag considering it was his first league appearance for us since January and a level higher.  Before them coming on we were being overrun by Orient the later part of the first half. Of course he needs to show more of that but not giving him a chance won't help.

I've always felt you can tell Paton wants to do well and appears to train hard and comes over a likeable Irish character. Something deserves to drop for him from that point of view and I'm sure we all hope it does.

Paton starting👍

Good to see Paton starting and garritty back

No clark at all

How on earth is Byers starting

The three who had stinkers dropped in Marosi, Headley, Faal, surprised Byers survived but he is a quality player, Gaz back is a boost and a chance for Ruari to show his worth.
