Match Thread: Reading v Port Vale

Featured Replies

Didn't see the game but have just watched Moores post match interview. I've not seen him this pissed off.

Big old bit about players not doing their jobs and in particular that a player didn't get back in position in the build up to their goal.

Who is he digging out, without naming them?

Its the appallingly negative tactics that are the problem. We are playing with 2 attacking players and people wonder why we don't score any goals. With 4 at the back, you usually have 4 attacking players, but we have no attacking central midfielders in the squad. Unfortunately, we will struggle until Moore is relieved of his duties.

some managers play that way because they know the players arent good enough to win games comfortably so they keep it tight hoping for a 1-0 win. aspin askey crosby and a few others fell into that trap - im saying trap but in all fairness to them they were dealt rough hands .

The recruitment has bin no good then

Problem with our recruitment is with all the signings we've made over the summer none have improved what we already had. Weve just added to the squad.

Then sell our best striker, our only real goal threat. So we're actually weaker this season than last season as it stands, with 2 days until the window shuts.

Waine is the worst signing for few years, when looking at what it was that we needed to sign.

Waine was clearly not good enough from the first game of the season. You have to question who scouted and question how they could ever have deemed him as any good.

Just watched the goal back. Sunday league stuff, again. Byers trotting back lazily and Headley asleep without any awareness of who's around him.

It's not being wise after the event mate. Many have said not only this year but previously.

To progress you need 3 or 4 new starters. We have one.

Loyalty to those who promoted you has to be secondary to consolidating your position in a higher division.

We needed minimum 3 outfield players in our starting X1.

Looks like Gabriel was a family issue, so far though he's played no part. Waine looks terrible. Shipley is so so.

Recruitment looks very poor at this moment in time.

Even the keeper we recruited has already lost his place to a loanee.

Byers.

Dropping Hall was pure madness

That was another decision that was odd as I don't know if any explanation was given as to why he wasn't playing, but considering he was at Reading I wonder if we did a late fitness test on him and he failed it.

The Marosi one is very strange; I wonder if that recommendation came from the data and not enough of the eye test. I can’t imagine Moore liked some of Marosi’s goalkeeping, in particular his tendency to punch and rather average kicking.

Gauchi is loads better, but does like a little too much time on the ball for my liking.

Of our recruits you’d have to say only Gabriel and Humphries are much of an improvement, the rest is squad depth stuff. A lot of the discourse though has been about being a development club and improving players. What that sounds like code for is trying to punch above weight and not push the boat out on more established talent.

I’m sure Moore will improve these players he’s got but whether it will be enough for the club is the burning question.

Managing minutes I suspect, otherwise we are asking him to play 50+ games this season injury free. We need better coverage here.

League 2 next year guys, we have never learnt nothing from our last relegation....same old

Can’t be managing minutes when he’s your only natural LCB and we are sat in 23rd with no wins.

Well I said on many occasions I didn’t rate Marosi, I’d seen him play a number of times and reminded me of Covalon, a mistake waiting to happen but of course shot down by the usual suspects on here. Gauchi like you say is miles better. Actually looks a really good goalkeeper. I agree though, Humphries is certainly an improvement, Gauchi looks to be and i imagine Gabriel will be. Other than that. Pretty poor

What's darren moores record with us in league one?...

I suspect we will be managing the minutes of several players this season and it will be the same case with the players who have been injured as well.
