Summer transfer rumours and speculation

That was 3 years ago. Look at Ben foster and Wrexham. He was playing in the prem and championship 3 years before then he went Wrexham had a few good seasons and couldn't handle league 2. We need a decent young keeper that will last. Amos doesn't have long left.

Foster had retired (injury)and was only supposed to cover whilst Lainton was injured. Most keepers play better when they have a good outfield defence. That needs sorting first. Amos is steady and that’s a good thing. Good keepers are highly sought after and not easily obtained ask any Stoke fan!

Ironic considering that applies to pretty much every post you do on here. Great counter argument though, well thought out 👍

You have not put any argument at all. You obviously just ignoring facts. Your only argument is that you get nervous when he faces on 1 on 1?? Well, blow me down with a favour, you have won that argument fair & square.

Big D, please can you replace Amos with a much better goalkeeper because @MrButton gets nervous when it’s a 1 on 1 situation

Ben Foster was 4 years older than Amos is now when he was last a regular Premier League keeper. Might not be a great analogy as 4 years is a hell of a long time in football.

It’s simple really it’s all about a small but competitive squad. Players who push each other.

We need one in most positions down the middle for me. Oh to find a Goodlad, Pilkington/Clarke, Cummins/Bridge-Wilkinson and Brooker/Mcphee. When you look back, we really were spoiled with those players in more recent times. All picked up for nowt from academies and developed. Brooker may have cost us 15k if I remember right actually. I think that’s what our squad needs now. We have experience now we need some “fresh legs” as it were.

My point really relates to Iheikwe, when everyone else seems to think it would be a great signing, and his injury record is just one injury in the last few years, you immediately jumped to the conclusion we shouldn't sign him based on that injury.

With reference to Gabriel, I have seen him play above once thanks to watching Blackpool a few times, and he looks streets ahead of what we've got.

Don’t be so precious, ive never said or once implied we shouldn’t buy him because of that injury.

Well that wasn't what I was asking I was asking if he had ever played as a centre back whether rcb or whatever but following your logic are you also expecting headley to be playing lcb next season?

Eh? Lost me. Headley will be playing as a LWB In a 3-5-2.

And he come in as 2nd for a reason... in league 2, hes old, hes average, he is bad in 1v1s, keepers who panic in 1v1s let goals in or get red carded at this level it will be even more likely, even i could probably keep a cleansheet if i had support all game and the opponents didnt get a proper shot off. You act like hes a top tier league one material, the team needs better and competition in every position, delusional waffler.

Seen that Blackpool have brought in Fraser Horsfall from Stockport on a 4 year contract. Great signing that is, must be on some money.

I don’t think overall the GK position is a big deal. Midfield is the big area for me, can be provide and get a more creative midfield that is better at finding a decent pass along with the ability for increase pace.

I’m not going to forget the countless, empty mid season matches against mediocre league 2 teams where we did nothing for whole games and the main reason for that was an inability for the midfield to offer any kind of link up play with the front line.

Just seen this after I posted. Totally agree.

And yet I think midfield is probably our strongest area based on the current squad.

Picking 3 starters from Croasdale, Byers, Garrity and Walters is a nice problem to have.
I’d only be looking at add a Premier League loan players to that and I’d be happy.

Striker, Defence and GK is where my focus would be.

Must be honest mate I'm genuinely struggling to recall any one on one's against Amos.

He probably made 3 big mistakes. Carlisle 3rd goal where he stood rooted instead of coming for the ball as it was in the air for an eternity. Also didn't cover himself in glory against Grimsby for the Rose header. And Tranmere away was Ripley-esque.

He made a magnificent save at Doncaster away at 0-0, likewise decent saves at Crewe at 0-0. Also saved us from an incredibly nervy 5 mins had Bradford scored the penalty.

Amos is a steady eddy,  6/10 to 7/10 most weeks. Nothing fancy no frills.

Ripley for me is a better keeper but less reliable, no middle ground, he was a 3/10 or a 9/10.

Certainly felt safer and more assured with Amos in the goal.

It wouldn't surprise me if we went for a new keeper but if he's in goal come August he's no Ryan Boot or Chris Martin.

Exactly my thoughts on Amos. Very steady 6/10 most weeks. I do think Moore will bring in a better keeper but like you say it’s not a major issue if not.
