Midfield is the glaring issue.

Defence is okay. Not convinced on the keeper.

Our midfield are all clones. Pick it up deep. Play it square.  Safe football.

No runners, no creativity or guile.

Unless Rico or Chislett start ( particularly at home ) it's going to be a mundane watch.

Pretty much nailed it here youth. Garrity drives us forward, though  often lacks quality, but the momentum he brings, keeps us more positive, which is why we miss him so much. How can we be still up there, with a great chance of promotion,  yet be so dire to watch?  Can only lay this at the door of Darren Moore's very Beige management.

It aint over till the fat lady sings .

Byers.

Lots of respected lower league pundits who have been on the EFL shows and also bloggers,  universally acclaimed him as the best player in the division.

I know he's had injuries but I'm still waiting for him to absolutely run the show as anticipated.

A real damp squib at times.

He’d be the first one to go in the Summer for me. Not worth 20% of the money he’s reportedly on.

I know Im baffled maybe he has just been unlucky and the injuries have taken their toll but this season is all I have to go on and he has not impressed me at all. I don't think I'd be that bothered if he didn't play Tuesday night give chizzie a start instead he isn't match fit but he has the ability. I am not enjoying watching them this season even though we are challenging in the top 6 which is weird but it is what it is.

I dunno. It’s amazing just what we’re capable of at times.

It's a bit like a couple of years ago when we made the play offs, till the semi and final, performances were average. We are currently not playing good football, it's a pity we could generate bigger gates with front foot performances. Sadly it looks like the current negative style will persist to the end of the season.

I think you might be wasting your breath, friend. Most on here just want to moan...

Don't you think the current performances warrant a moan?

Some uttercrap yet again posted on here by all the armchair analysts who haven’t got a clue about football.

Fleetwood just put 4 past Crewe!

We put 3 past them.at Vale Park .

So we should be happy with a point, with the players we have at our disposal compared to there's.

I've got a clue about football I've analysed it for years I see everything ..apart from R Richards wasn't on bench lol ....

It's all about setup ,and changing tactics within a game make your side the better side .

Why play 3 defensive midfielders, when the object of the game is too win the game ,why play 3 centre half's when if they were any good you would only need 2 Hall and another .

The set up is same  old .

Why do you think people are moaning

Wouldn't be moaning if you saw signs, that the team were really dictating, and playing quick front foot football

I ain't seen the last 2 away games so I cannot judge them, but even v Harrogate then had 7 players out who were ill i believe we made them look good second half due to our negative set ups ,where we seem to be trying go for the most games drawn in  a league season.

It's totally garbage for the players we have there's never a change of system

3 -5 -2 is crap if going play 9 men behind the ball and on Tues v Harrogate for there corners we had all our players back .

Garbage

I'd say it's not about keyboard warriors, it's about trying understand what Moores thought process is, it seems to me he is not a brave type of manager at all well he needs be or we finishing 8th or lower

Port Vale are 4 points behind 3rd with 2 games in hand, all teams in the top 7 have similar run ins

Spireite, what do your fellow Chesterfield-following pals think of our chances? Folks on here are predominantly too emotionally invested (positively or negatively) and you’re financially invested, so would be interesting to get a better objective/less biased point view, if that’s possible.

Talking about this earlier today and the feeling was, DM is a good manager, Southgate got knighted for playing like we do, and we know what England supporters thought of that and as keeps getting reported we are unbeaten in 2025, but for me with the size and value of the squad we should be doing far better, our style of football has already been described as beige, it's very frustrating.

A draw today isn’t a bad result. It’s the Harrogate game on Tuesday where we have dropped points. A win on Tuesday backed up with an away point today would have been a decent return.

As I’ve said all season, our games are too tight, based on small margins. You can almost script how our games will pan out.

The midfield three and wing backs need to start offering more in terms of creativity. Last three games they’ve offered nothing.

Headley, Stockley and Garrity are massive misses. We don’t look like a top 3 side without these in the team.

And what does a top 3 team look like? Walsall have been poor for about 4 weeks now, Doncaster very much up & down & dropping points all the time. Notts County the same & the rest around of the teams around us have been apart from Bradford. They’ve been the consistent ones & they have lost today. Points are being dropped all over the shop & looks like majority of the top 7 are feeling the pressure

My mates who went to the away game say you are the best side in the division, we went to Crewe put 5 in net, went to Bradford played them off park, threw it away at Walsall, beat Wimbledon comfortably, drew with notts county should have beat them they equalised with last kick of game, we never had a sniff at your place and got a draw at home against 10 men

For me getting the balance right in midfield between defensive and attacking players is the key issue. I thought DM had found the balance when he played Clark/Croasdale/Harper/Byers/Headley across the middle, a strong central 3 with the wing backs providing the flair but injuries/dismissals put paid to that.

If DM is gonna stick using 3-5-2 then I'd play Harper as the defensive/sitting midfielder of the central 3 and pick 2 from Garrity, Croasdale , Byers and Chizz, use Clark and Sang as wing backs and alternate them depending on how the game is going.

Croasdale has been excellent so far this season but he's starting to look a bit leggy.
