Gillingham v Port Vale match thread - Sat November 9th

Featured Replies

Both sides have been poor really.  Gills management have done their work and know how to play against Vale players and that is to push them back.

DM will no doubt be unhappy with the players as some of them seem to be having a bad day.

Come on Vale, need that first goal to upset them and then just concentrate in midfield and defence.

Sounds a bit harem scarem at times, or is that just Bowers commentary?? Was it a pen?

Listening to Radio Joke describing Walsall as a physically strong, high-octane side playing % football with the guy on loan from Stoke looking dangerous. In other words, the type of sides we normally struggle against.

Definitely a pen

Looked a pen all day long, what the heck was Stockley booked for.

50:50 game, they've created  very little if anything.

Sang playing really well, get Paton or Tolaj on for Richards and Sang will provide the pass to undo these.

Watching the replay no pen for me.

Nailed on pen even if he went down a bit easily. If he managed stay upright he just knocks it into an empty net. We don't deserve to be ahead though. Been garbage. Gills looks awful as well. Games there for taking.

Thought Curtis was looking for the contact and initiated it. He leaves a leg out and makes sure it hits the keeper's body.

Good half.
Came with a plan.
Fancy us to make subs to make an impact.
Not troubled at the back.
And anyone who thinks we should have had a penalty needs to give their hears a wobble and ask yourself if that was a Gills player would you think the same?
It was a blatant dive.

Pretty poor game from both sides if I’m honest 🤦‍♂️

From what I've heard its not a classic at all. Hopefully we see a turnaround like we did at MK Dons.

Definitely looked for contact but the contact was still there. Penalty for me, especially in the ‘modern game’

Wouldn’t say it was a good half. Yes 0-0 is fine but both sides have been pretty poor. I agree with the subs, think they will win this for us.

Thought it was a penalty in real time then after watching the replay I think the ref got it right, Curtis dived- silly as he probably would have got to the ball leaving an open goal. If Stockley was booked for the elbow then their player should have been booked for the challenge on Curtis early doors. Debrah is not having a good game but despite that, they haven’t had a shot on goal. Division 2 football is pretty naff.

Never a pen. Knocked the ball then went over without any contact being made. Felt a couple of theirs should have had yellows.

Difficult to judge the stockley one from the camera angle, he put his arm out but he did head it whereas their lads head was 2 foot too low. Got the impression he purposefully ran headfirst into stockleys elbow.

Flood lights are like ours 10 years ago, had to switch the brightness up rather than down on the TV for the first time in our high vis top.

Very scrappy game, we seemed to spend the first 15 minutes kicking it down the right wing as if it was a tactic but Richards never really tried to run in behind.

Chizzy about to come on by the sounds of it.  DM making changes - so must be unhappy with some of the players.

Come on Vale.  Get that goal.
