Agree with valiant593, we certainly don't want to be sticking attacking players at full back and even shoving CBs there to accommodate Cover at LB it's a recipe for disaster even for the odd game imo. As then you have 2 people as square pegs in round holes and/or weaker where they are being asked to play which gives the opposition more of a lift.

Need someone who can defend first and foremost then look at going forward as a bonus, John may be right footed naturally but he looked like he could use his left foot fairly well which was good so he is more than adept in both full back positions. Clark similarly when/if he gets fit again.  It's a shame we have the 3 of them out with Hart but that's football I guess.

I'd go with Shorrock or Grant(as said the only issue is he hasn't played at all but the bloke must have some ability at League Two level however pants he's been for us so far so a place on the bench maybe) to keep the balance.  Shorrock held his own last season in 1 or 2 games in the league above(Blackpool at home he was very good).

He’s still got CJ Hamilton in his pocket from the Blackpool game. Had him on toast that day. If Shorrock can deliver a performance of that standard he’s the obvious choice & gives us the balance being left footed. Whatever the selection I trust the gaffer

Well, hope you had a great day, think my first visit was when the Schoolboy Internationals were played and LadsandDads ran buses. Think Paul Rideout scored a few.

Think they lost too.

Vale Park has cheaper pies anyway.

We did yes, I've been loads of times (and of course the last was special!) but it was great to see his little face in awe at it. £50 for 3 burgers and chips in the fan zone was a bit steep mind! 😄

In fairness for all the berating of England's performance and it was poor I thought Greece were outstanding, similar to us v Notts in how they executed their game plan and fully deserved the win, and in the circumstances they did it with the tragedy they'd suffered I thought fair play to them.

Interesting to see what Moore will do with John out. If we are going to play a 4 at the back would probably be best to move Hall to left back. Other option is is to play wing backs and use Shorrock or Connor Grant there. Could do with Sam Hart back sharpish as he can play either full back or wing back.

I'm fully invested in the Connor Grant redemption arc. It could not be better for him in that we have injuries in both the positions he can play.

However I did infer from Moore's press conference that we are more likely to start seeing him from the following weekend as he hasn't played any 'bounce' games yet. This could be Moore laying down a red herring for MK but not seen be that sly yet.

Darren Moore wins manager of the month....FFS that's Jinxed us for the MK Dons game 😄

I see there manager is saying win it for George Baldock .

Very sad that however let's hope we are not going to let that happen, because I'm sure somewhere  there's a life long Vale fan who's passed away sadly this week also no doubt

I've noticed social media has been quiet where Vales concerned for this game ,usually asking folk buy tickets all week seems strange they have had not one update since Mon.

Team well pick a team who can win the game .

We should be going there full of confidence and ready to do the job

I expect miminim a point as we beginning gel

I spoke to one of the new players after the Notts County game and enquired about Smudger and also Grant.

He said Smith is fit but being overlooked while Grant has been fit for about 5 weeks at least and been really impressive in training and all the new  players can't understand why he is never selected.

So it sounds like they are out the door January

I have concerns as to whether smith is in the manager’s plans as he has only played one game against wolves u21 all season

Smith will get his chance eventually and he as to take it when it arises.

Maybe he might be put in tomoz as do you need 3 big burly centre half's v MK Don's having watched them other night I'd say you don't you need 1 for Harrison who I think be on bench anyway .

We need to not dither on ball as they play high press , there's space for Garrity to really shine as they leave a massive gap between defence and midfield in fact if Paton starts he should be in on goal quite often as they seriously lack pace at back

Whilst we are on the subject of people passing.

Can I take this opportunity to say RIP to one of my best mates Darren Wood. Some on here may have known 'Woody' and he used to do Kareoke at Rileys etc

I used to go matches with Woody and only found out three months ago he passed late last year. His dad who passed away Len, was also Vale.

As I've said previously, I don't get the clamour with some to bring Smith back whenever there's an injury or two.  He was awful last season at times and his individual errors against Lincoln and Shrewsbury(home and away) wrote 9 points off in crucial games which may have seen us safe.

I'm not saying hold that against him forever as players make mistakes(and he certainly wasn't the only one), he's been a good servant to the club so perhaps should have some credit in the bank.  However if I was Moore I can see why he wouldn't rate him based on those key mistakes in his 18 games or so at the end of last season, it really was schoolboy stuff from a relatively experienced pro.  He doesn't know Smith from before last season does he so if the slate was clean then he does that in crucial moments what is he to think?

Debrah wasn't great last season either but he's clearly reacted better to whatever Moore has tried to coach into him for example.

So basically Jesse is now the only surviving (regular)member of what was a pretty powderpuff backline last season, change was needed and I don't blame Moore in the slightest for that, however much people may think Smith is a club legend or whatever.

Out of interest do we know where Hart and even Clark are in terms of progress? I think someone said Clark was running a few weeks back, obviously appreciate if he's had surgery on his kneck that's got to strengthen before he can do anything majorly physical contact wise.  It would appear John and Byers are probably going to be 6 and 8 weeks(maybe longer with Byers?).

Recall James Plant, he's never let us down, ideal replacement for Kyle John.

No offence mate  but Planty playing as a LWB would be a total waste of his time and ours the lad is best suited playing as a attacking winger or midfielder 👌

I once stayed in a hotel whilst away with work built into the MK Dons stadium. Weird experience as you open the curtains and it looks out onto the pitch.

Anyway it is a really nice ground but personally think they would have been better building it to a similar size to Rotherhams ground. There is no way they will either fill it and kind of feels like an outdoor cinema de lux.

It is on the list of potential world Cup grounds, whenever that may arise.
