Yes obviously not good to concede 7 goals in 2 games and a lot of work to do but the Moore out rhetoric and what’s our identity/plan is bloody stupid before you even consider the number of new players.

4 games and fans calling for him to be gone. Crazy.

I wonder what Donny fans were saying about Grant McCann for the majority of last season when his side struggled after assembling a new squad?

The team need a couple of results to get going but DM probably needs a win more than the players to get fans on side and figure out his starting 11.

With McCann, Donny fans admit that there were big injury problems and the performances were good.

We're 23 games in now, he's got a big squad with few injury concerns, and performances seem to be getting worse.

There's two options here:

A) Moore has been really unlucky, inheriting a bad team and then having to wait for 16 new signings to settle. His awful win record is about to turn any minute, and although there has been literally zero evidence that he's improved things in any way, sooner or later it'll click and he'll overcome perhaps the worst start to a reign in PVFC history and we'll all forget the literal half-season of games where he put up some of the very worst performances in recent PVFC history.

B) Moore is bad, we can't keep doing mental gymnastics to justify crap, the last 50 games of his career show that, and the longer we stick our head in the ground (as I did up until 3-1 today) the more damage we're doing to PVFC.

All logic points to B. He's either the most unlucky man ever, or he simply lucked out at Wednesday and otherwise is no good.

Option B for sure but the problem is we are left with this squad. Yes decent players, or we hope they are decent players but its a squad and does not look like a team. Balance of the squad is terrible, too many players signed that were not needed and little cover else where

We didn't sit in but we played with our striker completely isolated again. The players are there for Moore, but in attacking areas. He had the window to find solid full-backs so we could drop a defender from the 5 at the back and get another quality player on the pitch. We all saw the difference Benicio and Chislett made.

For me we have no midfield control which is the main issue.

Get Byers in the team and I think we will look completely different pushing us further forward.

I don’t agree with FB’s John,Sang with Hart or Hall on the left. The 4 should be good enough at this level.

We had one decent wingback in Clark and he’ll probably never play at 100% fitness for the club again, if he ever has. Sang, enough said. Henny and Hall are so slow it’s unreal, maybe even Lowe can outrun them. Debrah and Jones no better. Smith needed back urgently because despite his faults he’s a decent CB in L2.  Hart and John are only going to ever give basic level function, and even that will take ages to come because the formation is baffling. Lomax and Shorrock are young and should be integrated gradually. Cover will needs to be decent otherwise we’re completely vulnerable all across the back line. How many’s that? 13 odd players. Why oh why can’t we have 6/7 decent rather than 100 who battle to be least awful?

Thats the defence !!  Same goes for our attacking players.

You can give a cook the best quality ingredients but if they don't look at the recipe or have an instinct for great food, you'll just end up with mush....

6000 fans bought season on what they were fed.
We thought the tide had turned.
There isn’t a honeymoon period with Moore. There can’t be.
Carol won’t accept this I’m sure of it.
She knows no different.

Do you know what PNE fans say about him?

Boring negative football. Happy to keep it tight. Plays players out of position and refuses to play anything other than 532.

Will fit right in

Heard that before about a manager but can’t for the life of me think who.

We are a club with a squad of players full of riches.

Visiting 4th division teams coming to Vale Park should be quaking in their boots. overawed by the stadium, the pitch, and a vociferous crowd.

That's how it should be!

But it isn't, because we have a Manager whose football is incredibly negative, dour and boring.

To line up with a bank of 5 at the back. With 2 midfielders sitting 2 yards in front of them (one of whom is our top scorer).

Why oh why can't we 'get at' teams from the off.

Why can't the ball go forward right from the kick off.

Why can't we just put it into touch around their corner flag and press up onto them so they, not us, are under pressure from our kick off!

Donny fans were 100% right DMs football is 100% <ovf censored>.

I want a team of nasty footballers who kick, niggle, and get right in the face of the opposition and win the battle first, the war second.

I am sick to the back teeth of opposition fans celebrating at Vale Park.

Perhaps we are too nice as a football club and that is the attitude that gets carried onto the pitch.

I do think we need to have quite a tricky conversation about Ben Garrity. Very controversial view to come.

He's great at what he does - a Vale icon, for sure - but he's good at so few things (and bad at quite a few too) he has to be played in an extremely specific way (as a number 10 with no responsibilities in possession) that you have to sort of shoehorn the entire team around him. You sort of have to ignore him in possession, which is crackers.

The controversial view is that Chislett scores about the same number of goals but offers a lot more on the ball.

I love Ben. A proper fighter, one of our hardest working ever, and 10-12 goals is never to be dismissed, but we can't keep playing players if they unbalance the team. We have to play with a number 10 role, and effectively guarantee him that spot, if he's going to be successful, when there's every argument that Chislett is more effective in that very same position.

Controversial yes but spot on.

I would also ad that we are totally unbalanced all over the pitch. Playing Curtis, Paton, Tolaj as a front three offers absolutely nothing for the team. Moore seems to think it does.

Im really cheesed off at present, but in fairness, the one thing I saw a lot of today was crunching tackles from several of our players - Tom fairy lights Sang goes in like a headband possessed this season - well done Sangy 👏👏👏👏

2 holding midfielders and 5 at the back is ridiculous. It’s ultra-defensive, doesn't stop the goals and prevents us from scoring. Personally I hate it.

Agree on having a midfield holding player but why TWO. Its so negative and puts so much pressure on the front three to create and score goals, especially when our wingbacks NEVER create and assist in goals.

That defending was atrocious.

Hall and Heneghan are so so slow and Hart isn’t much quicker.

So slow all over the pitch apart from BBB and maybe Edwards.

You have to have a mix of pace, strength and a pattern of play but we simply don’t appear to have any of them.

We’ve not really had fast, direct players since the likes of JMW, Vincent, Marshall and to a lesser extent Politic (who was barely used).

Even during the Clarke days we rarely played with wingers.

We’ve now got Diamond and Benicio who would fit this mould. However, are they going to play much over Chislett and Curtis?

The 5-3-2 system has killed a lot of enjoyment about watching us.

I don't think we're negative through instruction. It's not often a manager will explicitly tell the players to not attack. Formations ("we played a 343 today") are misnomers as we'll have different shapes when we have the ball and when we don't. It wasn't to do with intention.

We were out-pressed and could never have any decent possession. The one time we did, Tolaj threaded it through for a midfield runner.

I think in theory Cover and Hart were to play high and wide, in line with the front 3 (with Tolaj and Curtis cutting inside), to give us a back 3, middle 2, and front 5 - which is what every successful team does with the ball.

For that to happen, you need to have sustained spells on the ball (playing out of the opposition press) and also be able to press the opposition to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

Issue was today that we couldn't build, the wing-backs couldn't get up the pitch as we were often on the back foot, and when we did get the ball we had no technical quality, anywhere, compounded by the midfield being 3 v 2 (or 1 when Garrity drifted elsewhere) pretty much every time they won it back.

It was just incredibly crap in every way. The idea was rubbish, the execution was worse, the in-game adjustments a disaster. Those 90 minutes were enough to convince me that he tactically doesn't have a clue what he's doing and we're now reliant on individual talent and good vibes - we can beat the crap teams but against decent sides like Barrow and Doncaster are going to lead to defeat. Doncaster have an excellent player in Molyneux, but the key difference today is that they very extremely well organised both without the ball and on the break.
