Match thread: Salford City v Port Vale, 10th August

Featured Replies

Regards Salford I can see them struggling this season if that’s the standard they continue to serve up. Also Stockton looked very disinterested once he realised Heneghan and Hall were giving him nothing. Glad we didn’t end up with him.

Slightly scrappy but the team will gel together after a few games. Sang haters???? Where are you as he was good today. I’m super happy with the win. Well deserved. Tolaj looks like a weapon as does Paton. Can’t wait for Byers to start

I’m here 🙋‍♂️ Happy to be proved wrong, it’s one game though & hope he can kick on now 👍🏻 Pass us that pie Sangy lad I’m starving

Less than 2000 home fans for a first game of the season, Tin pot outfit.

I agree and not a very ground either?

When we arrived early to get the parking right outside the ground we found it was already full of cars. Seems they belonged to folk who had taken coaches from there to Wembley for the Manure/City game.

There were 1366 Vale fans. Let’s assume 80% were blokes. So let’s say roughly 1,000 blokes. I’m told there were 5 urinals. The queues were enormous.

Half way decent performance - helped by Salford not starting to play till they were 2-0 down. Starting to come together as a team and can only get better. Ref was abysmal - where do they get them from?

Onwards and upwards.

Got home about half an hour ago. What a great day in the sun (when it finally appeared).

Every single player on that pitch was outstanding.

Sang and Hart were very good defensively, Hart particularly rattled into loads of challenges.

Hall, debs and Heneghan never looked in trouble, Hall is back to the Rolls Royce we had when he first signed. Feels like debrah is going to learn a hell of a lot next too those two.

Croasdale always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, sensational.

Garrity, captain fantastic, two goals and never stopped running.

Tolaj very unlucky not to score, haven't seen it back but I couldn't believe the lad that hacked him down never got sent off.

You can see Paton's movement is there, just needs the ball to drop for him. Considering this is his and Tolaj's first game at league level i thought they were both brilliant.

BBB looks like he's going to be a lot of fun off the bench. Curtis too had a good game.

All in all, a great day. I took my eldest who's only other away game ever was Barnsley last year, I'm so glad he's shaken that hoodoo [emoji16].

Pleased with 3 points on the board. Plenty more to come in and it's a positive that Sang has had some praise. Maybe he's found his level along with the likes of Debrah. Nice to see us exploit their weakness at setpieces and Croasdale looks to be the missing link which cost us time and again that season. Bring on Tranmere!

Not a chance Ollie had 350 loyalty points 🤣

Funnily enough, as soon as (within seconds) the wife heard about 'The Blaster' being in the away end, her words were: "How the bloody hell as he got his ticket?"

Good lad Ollie!

I felt a bit sorry for him at half time, he was bursting for a pish and he was getting ragdolled by people rubbing his head and grabbing him for a photo on his way to the toilet. No wonder he went and sat in the seats in the second half.

Promotion by Christmas. Yes sir, that will do nicely

Stadiums less than 10,000 capacity have different rules. Perhaps the toilet facilities are the reason for the small home crowds?

Conrad, I remember watching the tv programme about when they were taken over. Not all fans were for it some saying that the club lose it’s identity and were against the takeover. Saying that they just wanted to remain where they were in the league.
