That's what I thought. Those 2 goals will put him in the spotlight again. The lad loves it here but the lure of a big pay packet could sway him.

The game almost seemed a continuation of pre season for both sides but Vale undoubtedly deserved to win. I’m certainly not going to get carried away by one result against a team that will finish in the bottom eight as much stiffer tests await.

it was encouraging to see our defence actually having the ability to withstand some pressure and set pieces without looking all at sea. With some big players to return I think we could be in the shake up at the end of the season. We’ll know far more after the next three home games against Tranmere, Doncaster and Chesterfield.

Fair enough but I'd rather be in a position where we're worried that our player's good performance potentially attracts other clubs than worried about a player's performance because it's rubbish. Right now he's still a Vale player.

I agree with both of your posts.

3 points and 9 goal difference better off than this time last season.

Lost count of the number of times I was panicking when they got the ball and played a forward pass only to relax when the camera panned across and I realised we had 4 on 1 at the back. I think last season may have scarred me a bit.

Hope Garrity if fit enough to play but not pass a medical for the next few weeks.

That little hamstring pull might be a blessing in disguise for us 

Salford were incredibly poor yesterday but we have to give ourselves credit for that.

There was nothing on through the middle. We set up, out of possession, really well and they couldn't build at all. Robinson likes to play out but Tilt and Negru were forced to punt it out of play countless times - they were both absolutely awful. Croasdale and Garrity patrolled the middle brilliantly and the back three won 90% of their headers.

When Moore took Wednesday up, they won a lot of games by being extremely well organised, combative, strong from set-pieces - it was striking how similar we were yesterday. I think that's his style - we won't see loads of free-flowing stuff, and opposition fans will argue we aren't that good (as we did ourselves when Wednesday beat us twice that season), but his blueprint here is beginning to look like Wednesday - big centre-halves, 4 strikers who rotate, aggressive and organised without the ball.

Might all change. Was just interesting how similar we looked.

Hopefully still be with us, Moore said he was never for sale in the fans forum and BG seems very happy to be captain so would have to be a good offer, also think if a L1 club came in we’d probably look to offer him a competitive deal to stay, similar to Ojo when Bolton came in last summer.

We won’t be paying Byers peanuts so we can compete but would feel slightly more comfortable if we got BG signed on a longer deal.
