People are laughing, but I've got a really strange feeling about this one. He's already made his money, last move of his career in a league where he would run the show, maybe get some coaching badges out of it and hopefully a promotion. It's no secret he absolutely loved playing for Moore at Wednesday. I just don't think it's as daft a move as people are thinking.

Spot on mate.
Makes perfect sense for both parties.

Nathan Smith won’t be captain next season. He’s stated that. Nobody in that squad says captain material apart from Ben and who knows if he will be here come August.
That statement tonight suggests to me that he has his captain coming into the club already.
I think Bez or Johnny on the pod mentioned Bannan at some point a few weeks ago.
If we were to play a 4-2-3-1 which he mentioned, a 2 of Garrity and Bannan would rip up the league.

He’s the new captain who Big D nearly named dropped tonight

Unlikely it is Bannan  he’s rumoured to be on 25k a week and your expect him to play on 3-4k

Cambridge fans thought Wes Hoolahan dropping a couple of divisions (via a 12 month sabbatical to the A-League 😉) to play for them was nonsense, but how wrong they were.  Bannan signing for us would be a similar coup and if we could get a striker of Paul Mullin’s calibre too (Cambridge unbelievably signed him that same summer) then an immediate bounce back up could be on the cards. However, there’s no indication Bannan wants to leave according to this article, though guess he’ll have no say in the matter if Wednesday decide to release him next week.

The most significant piece of information of the night was what Matt Hancock said about Carol and her family. That Carol was going to be less visible in the future and gave the reasons why but the family's commitment to Vale is to be as strong as ever or words to that effect.

The family shouldn't be beyond criticism and/or comment but I hope if/when it's levelled in the future  it's done with respect.

Just imagine what such a meeting would have been like if The Shanahan family had decided to walk away, there would have been no talk of signings, formations, tactics  etc.

I always find these questions very very strange.

I don’t want to know, in public, how he wants us to play. I want winning football.

Crosby and Flitcroft told us how we were going to play and within 8 league games the entire league had sussed it out and didn’t need to do their homework on us.
The average fan could tell you how to beat us this last 18 months.

Why do fans want to know what formation we will play? What style? Keep the secrets under wraps and adapt.

Exactly my thinking, I don’t get the obsession with wanting to know what formation we will play, and what style we’re going to be known for. That should be a suprise for us & the opposition. Think he touched on that & said it’s going to be flexible & adapt at times.

Would be great if you are right - even though he came across a bit of a tvvat when they beat us at Vale Park last season, getting right into Conlon's face, whilst gobbing off and laughing at him. (maybe he was just taking the mickey out of his name, and was calling him Con-lon?!)

Exactly the sort of player we’ve been missing to be fair mate!

I didn't think Moore was the man for us based on what I've seen so far. I just felt he didn't "fit" the fans.

But I do feel much more encouraged after watching last night.

I've seen a different side to him.

Stern. Steely. Focused. Determined. Felt he had a real air of "I'm the boss, don't mess with me".

Clearly the nicey nice approach was to try and get a tune out of these dossers. Feel like that will change now and I'm all for it.

sadly I 100% agree but the biggest problem is the long contracts that a lot of players (loft, jones and others have) and the debt we have and his ridiculous five and a half years contract and we have no wriggle room to buy players and I fear the future
