Well everyone has their own opinions. I personally think he's a good commentator too.

I say that having, some years back, done some match summarising and seeing just how difficult it is to call things live. I could never do it.

I also say that after being out of the area for a long time and hearing commentators from elsewhere - if you get a chance it's worth the comparison just to see how good he is compared to the competition.

Finally, on a different note, I think these last few weeks have really shown the value of a dedicated Vale reporter. It was a good move to get Phil Bowers into the training camp. We've had loads of insight and interesting interviews, particularly the one with Carol. With the demise of the Sentinel daily reporting (excluding Mike B's excellent but not FOC newsletter), I think it's good to see the radio station putting a bit of time, effort and resources into free to air Vale coverage.

I agree with this. When I couldn't get home commentary to work on my ifollow audio, I've sometimes had to listen to the away commentary............Tranmere are by far the worst I've ever endured.

Loved the Garrity & Paton interview. Fantastic listen, a pair of great lads & real characters. I could listen to Ruari all day

Yes,i enjoyed that last night on the radio a really good insight into them both

Also I am hoping see a bit of dancing when Paton bags a goal or two

Mitch is looking proper trimmed & lean this pre season 💪🏻

We just have to keep him fit as there is no doubting his talent

I’m actually going to give Bowers a sh11tt sandwich here. I think he is a terrible commentator but I think he is a fantastic interviewer.

Having had the misfortune of listening to some of the opposition commentators when Radio Sjoke fell over during matches or just before, they made ours look really good and professional.  🤪

I actually think Walsall have pulled off a decent signing at this level with winger Albert Adomah who even at 36 is still a very good player

Am I deluded to wonder about the following?

Nathan Ferguson has just been released by Palace having only played a handful of games in the last few years due to an injury record that makes Willo look like Nathan Smith.

DM will know him as he came through at WBA when DM was there, in fact he started out managing the youth team so DM will have coached him directly. 23 year old 6' CB, LB, RB. At one point he was going for £10m but it fell through after failing the medical.

Can't imagine clubs will be queueing down the street with that awful injury record. Would he entertain an appearances based deal with a manager he used to work with at a club going for auto promotion not a long commute from where he's from?

Jason Talbot and, particularly,  Dean Stokes were not big. Both put in a strong tackle.
Jason Talbot was lunatic in the challenge!

One decent defender doesn’t sort the defence out. We need at least 2 nailed on starters to have a realistic chance of mounting a promotion challenge.

Not for me mate.

His game was based on pace which he has zero now.

Imagine if Lowe plays RB up against him. It will be like watch the game in slow motion.

We've signed 2 defenders. Hart and Hall are nailed on starters. I've obviously seen Hart play, although he was both young and played a lot on the wing in his loan. I honestly don't know if he's the answer but Moore must because he signed him. Hall was very good in league 2 and had a wobble in September but came back strong in League 1.

From the training video posted not too long ago - who is taking the shot here? I can’t tell if I’m being stupid or whether that’s a trialist

An open sandwich then?

A sausage sandwich.

Nope. In what 4 year 8 minutes as a sun and almost managed 90 minutes for the U23 side. He's spent more time in plaster and without. We need someone who can step in until Christmas I'd Hart or Clark get injured first game. He's got knee, ankle and both hamstrings that have had serious injuries. If you want a player who can play across the back 4 I think Timothy Eyoma is still available.

Not sure why but I have a funny feeling we’ll announce Kyle John this week whilst away on our Wales trip ✍️
