Not sure why but I have a funny feeling we’ll announce Kyle John this week whilst away on our Wales trip ✍️

I think they will look at him v Burton first tbh

I take it you dont think Adomah will be a decent player at League 2 level?

Yeah possibly that’s a good point. I can’t see him doing much to be honest mate

Nope. In what 4 year 8 minutes as a sun and almost managed 90 minutes for the U23 side. He's spent more time in plaster and without. We need someone who can step in until Christmas I'd Hart or Clark get injured first game. He's got knee, ankle and both hamstrings that have had serious injuries. If you want a player who can play across the back 4 I think Timothy Eyoma is still available.

I agree,i dont for one minute think we will take a risk on Ferguson

I aren't saying he will rip League 2 apart,I just think it's a good experienced signing for League 2 level and shows like with Byers that players can be prepared to drop down from the Championship

It looks like Blackburn have been showing an interest in Batth(if so we can rule him out totally) but he still hasn't signed anywhere possibly holding out for the best deal he can get

One decent defender doesn’t sort the defence out. We need at least 2 nailed on starters to have a realistic chance of mounting a promotion challenge.

Do you mean 2 starting centre back or 2 starters across the back 4/5?

John has the highest profile of the 3 current trialists. He was very close to the Everton first team a few times, which was why he never got his loans. At some point he'll look elsewhere. Ideally you are right but it's also a game of 3d chess. Someone like Derek Adams at Morecambe would probably be interested. Not sure how much 45 minutes against Burton is going to change the decision as he must have been in the building for a fortnight. They may wait but I'm guessing that they'll have seen enough to make a decision.

I get what you are saying and you might just be right,I just think because of where he has come from he might be looking for longer than a 12mth deal,we as it stands have been giving 3yr deals out and with his age a 3yr would make sense(or 2 with an option) so we might want to take a little longer but as you say others could be watching

I have to say, league 2 used to be a total duffers league with clubs struggling to stay afloat and squads full of loans, has beens or even thin on the ground in terms of numbers.

However, looking through all the squads, there are some seriously good players on the books of many clubs.

Ben Woodburn has signed for Salford, that's a serious signing that.

4 goals in his last 96 !

He's lived on his initial breakthrough at Liverpool. Similar to James Wilson at Man United.

A complete nothing career so far. Maybe Salford can get him going.

Tend to agree, which is why I’m not as enthusiastic as others regards believing our bouncing straight back to L1 at our first attempt is virtually a done deal.  DM, not surprisingly, wasn’t getting carried away either,  playing down the prospect when Phil Bowers popped the P question yesterday.  We’ve certainly given ourselves a very good chance with our signings so far especially if Big Dave and his coaching team get them to gel and the medical team can keep them on the pitch. As I say I’m not getting as carried away regards promotion as some but have to admit I’ve not looked forward to a season starting as much as this one for years.

PS. Despite my reservations about promotion I couldn’t resist an E/W flutter at 16/1 just after we’d signed George Byers.🥴

Think he got 1 goal in 58 games at Preston 😳
