Did the LB on trial show much pace at all? as I do think we are lacking in that department

Seemed pretty quick. Quite a light build though.

So depending on how he shows in training and if of course the club think he is good enough,he could solve the needing a young pacey full back who can play both sides role, then for me we would be looking at a CB with an experience and then maybe a younger pacey one, a wide player and then possibly another full back? potentially 4 or 5 more(obviously another couple would have to move on) and a couple of those could be loans.

Agree with that, need 4 or 5 more. Crying out for a winger with pace who is first team material. I haven’t seen any of the games so far, but my concern is we might still be a bit one paced.

Yes, I don’t think Chiz is a natural winger and I wouldn’t want to see one of the strikers shoved out there.

I think he has gone 442 in some of the friendlies or when he has changed systems at half time hasn't he?

Mike Baggaley said it was 4231 both halves. Tolaj and Paton playing as 10s in the 3.

ATM we have a squad of 26.

Keepers and U21 players don't count towards the EFL limit though, which is 22.

21 year olds count as U21s if they were U21 on the Jan 1st before the season starts.

So we have a squad of 20 today in the EFLs eyes. Only 2 spaces left.

In terms of loans, the EFL regs are arguably a bit vague -

No Club may sign more than 4 Players on a Temporary Loan Transfer from another Club (or club) in any Season, of which no more than 2 Players may be over the age of 23.

I'm not sure if they mean from the same club (as "from another club" may imply) or from any club at all, as the latter meaning that you can only loan in 2 over 23 year olds full stop seems really quite harsh?

In any case, in terms of the trialists, Kyle John, Deklan Wynne and Sadat Anaku would count towards the squad limits, but David Adewoju, Christian Scott and Diamond Edwards wouldn't.

We'd really be doing ourselves a favour in terms of who we can bring in for the still to be fully addressed positions (commanding massive centre half to head it away, wingers, full backs) if we could find someone to take Lowe and Jones at least, possibly Debrah and Sang. Maybe Grant too unless he's going to keep being shoehorned into LWB as CM is our best stocked position with Byers, Garrity, Chislett, Croasdale, Ojo etc. There's also the question of what's going on with Rhys Walters.

I really really really hope we're not going into the season planning on Sang and Grant as full back/wing back options as we'd just be tying our own laces together before running having spent so much money on forward options. Midfield only.

I expect to see a flurry of activity next week across the EFL as teams finalise player assessments during pre season trips.

I thinks it conceivable we reach our squad limit at the end of the month and inform player(s) they are not going to be in the squad and need to find a club.

The problem in general with our defence is every player has a big question mark over them.

Still a lot of work to do on that area for me.

Two new defenders needed ASAP. Preferably a solid centre defender.

Let's face it... We need one.

The paragraph you quote is specifically for loans from one club to another. The paragraph above that says that you can only have 5 in a match day squad. You can have as many as  you want, only 4 can come from one club.

A maximum of 5 Players registered on a Temporary Loan Transfer can be named in the Players listed on a Team Sheet for any individual match played under the auspices of The League. This maximum shall reduce to 4 Players where a Club names a Player on the team sheet who is registered on an Emergency Goalkeeper Loan;

Smudge and Hall are probably nailed on to start in central defence but I'd like see Jones and Lowe gone in the next week 🙏

But agreed do need a few defenders in
