New Manager is ?

Probably already been said many times, both implicitly and explicitly.

My twopenneth, for what it's worth, is that Darren Moore strikes me as a very straightforward, no nonsense type of character.

He would therefore be the ideal foil for Flitcroft's fantasy land ideas, and the two might actually dovetail very neatly.

No doubt in my mind that the club needs someone to keep Flitcroft under control, which is logically a bit bizarre, but it's where they are.

I don't doubt you are right (sadly) but that's a tough role to fill...

All these managers that keep costing us money? Please elaborate mate because I’ve been going Vale for 25 years & we’ve had some awful ones in the dugout in that time who I can’t imagine were on much money to be honest. The only successful ones have been Rudge, Micky Adams, Brian Horton ( won a trophy ) & Darrell Clarke. Who all had some some of decent pedigree, reputation or had success at Vale. Then we’ve had the likes of Sinnott, Brown, Gannon, Bruno, Dean Glover, Danny Pugh & Aspin to name a few who all were the safe or easy option & massive failures.

Gannon had managed in the Scottish Premier League, English Championship and the Europa League. He turned down a four-year contract with Peterborough to manage us. He was also completely insane like. But he wasn't the safe, easy or cheap option and yet he was the biggest failure of the lot.

Whereas Rudge was the safe, easy and cheap option yet was the most successful.

So whoever our Dave pins his hat on should get out full support (doesn't mean we can't criticise the director of football if he gets another managerial appointment wrong).

Good point 👍🏻 more often than not though you get what your pay for mate. We could well go for a lesser name or a cheaper option & succeed I just feel it’s a huge risk where we’re at right now

Carol runs a company that specialises in counter fraud work. For example the National Fraud Initiative in conjunction with the Civil Service / Cabinet Office.

I wouldn't trust any private company from the UK to undergo work for fraud.

No wonder the wealthier 1% own 230 times more wealth than the poorest 10%

Want more wealth? Work harder. Be innovative and think outside the box. Or be skilled at something. All of the above takes hard work. Apply yourself rather than being jealous of those that have.

Here is a related article to a point that was made on a podcast some weeks ago.

Basically a manager doesn't make a massive amount of difference to a team's point tally. Now a great manager (Klopp, Rudge, Guardiola) will gain a team up to ten points a season. That doesn't sound like a great deal, but Rudge was here 16 years and if he gained us 7 extra points a season then that explains how he got us to eighth in the Championship on a low budget. Such a feat seems highly improbable today as any manager with such talent would be stolen away from us.

Also the research shows that a terrible manager can cost a lot of points, think Jim Gannon coming in and upsetting and unsettling players, staff, fans etc.

But the majority of managers are middling and are much of a muchness. Which is how I suspect we were with Crosby. His bad substitutions may have cost us a few results in visible moments that we remember, but his good coaching may have gained us a few results in a way we couldn't see because we're not there in training. Ask yourself why is Funso Ojo ringing Crosby up after scoring that penalty to dedicate his goal to him?

My conclusion is that Flitcroft really needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat if we're going to find success here. If a Mark Kennedy comes in and does a decent enough job then it might not be enough. I suspect Flitcroft may be aware of this and so is working on a Darren Moore type figure where the data suggests there is a quality manager, but equally he surely was aware of the need for a striker in January and look what happened.

So you agree a private company, that exists merely for self profit, should be allowed to investigate fraud?

Nothing to do with jealousy. I just don't like corruption.
