Evans is 61. With my ageist hat on, and having relevant experience, you have to decide in life what to do. Keep going, semi retirement or retirement and when. 

A new challenge, which I took on aged 59 for 4.5 years has to be a really viable and good fit. That includes location.

Some out there suggestions… I’m not saying I like the ideas but I’m just trying to think of some names outside of those being touted.

Dean Whitehead… obvious link, currently assistant at Watford

Shaun Derry… average manager back in the day but has since gone to the Prem as development managers at Palace and now wolves and is apparently very highly thought of

He isn’t coming but Steve Evans is a good manager and would be cracking here.

We have a difficult task of needing someone who can dig in and keep us up as well as then kicking on next year.

Rowett would fit that bill, but we have more chance of platting snot than getting him.

Steve Evans is not leaving a Stevenage promotion charge to come here is he. Let's be realistic. Plus he only works where there's money to spend so let's rule him out.

My money is on Mark Bonner, but I would not be at all surprised if Flitcroft takes over until the end of the season.

Warren. Football a completely different animal. It's engrained in them. Roy Hodgson isn't at Palace to top up his pension. It's in his veins.
