Is Mickey really that hard done to?

To be honest I wass taking the post at the start very serioussy and saw it as inciteful until i read the following

"Mickey has quite clearly not liked the criticism that he has received on OVF and i have a feeling that he does come on here and read what is posted even if he says he doesn't."

After that it lost me as it's accusing the man of being a liar based on a 'feeling' and so the whole basis of the criticism is undermined which is a pity.

How does having a feeling that mickey has perhaps told a porkie pie undermine the rest of the post? I would be very surprised if he didn't take a look. Maybe i m wrong maybe he doesn't but so what?

Strange post.

I hate the "Oh he's employed in football so hasn't got a right to say anything negative" line. It's boring and wrong.

Many of the criticisms are unfair. The Gillingham thread was so pathetic that it's untrue. As were the threads at the time that basically said he was as bad as MOLD.

Fact is, he has a team of players that for the past few seasons haven't quite been playoff standard (not by much though) so does that mean he should release any player he can and sign 20 new ones every time we don't meet expectations? No. The retained list could have been more cut throat, but for me we have a squad at the moment, before we actually have the team that is good enough to get promotion. Judge him when the transfer window closes. If we get the 5-6 players he is after then I honestly don't see why we can't build up momentum and get out of this league. With backing from upstairs, and for once in years he's actually got the backing of 100% of the fans who are just excited to finally be able to get a season where football is the priority.

I love Rico but the positive side side to his depature is now we can try something different, Pope can step up and knows that he can be the main man if he starts well. Williamson will also have that mentality as Rigg has gone also. We're not going to be limited to having richards up front, which I know sounds ridiculous but it did mean that he had to adapt and play differently than we could have done, he was a bit of everything, he wasn't the target man, wasn't the poacher, wasn't the speedster, but scored goals so had to play. Didn't really have that killer partnership with anyone that would have certainly seen us in the playoffs.

I can't really see how Micky has failed at all so far in the circumstances.

And I think he is well within his right to not go out of his way for a website where a big minority of people can't wait to see him fail, so they can say I told you so.

How's about letting him do his job?

I never said that he isn't allowed an opinion but i think he displayed poor judgement in speaking out is against OVF when actually a lot of the criticisms are fair. If Mickey is allowed to speak out and voice an opinion why can't i speak out and have an opinion? Some criticisms went too far agreed but some were very fair and questioned his managerial ability based on what he has done. How can i assess him now based on what he does next season. If Adams does a great job next year then i will be first to congratulate him. But i have just given my own personal assessment why is it a strange post?

OVF is tame i m sure to some forums. I bet the Liverpool fan's forum was much more aggressive when Roy Hodgson was there and disliked.

Mickey perhaps hasn't failed but neither has he been a success. He hasn't achieved anything. I thought when he came he said that he aimed to be getting promotion within 3 years. He hasn't done this. He hasn't got us in the playoffs once with a competitive budget. He took over when we were a mid table team and we still are a mid table team. We haven't moved forward. Surely criticism in some areas is not unreasonable? Why is is strange?

I m letting him do his job, how on earth am i obstructing him? I m simply voicing my personal opinion as a paying customer on a fans forum set up to discuss such matters.

He is an ambassador of Port Vale Football Club and to refuse to pose for a photograph based on the person wanting it for OVF is a poor error of judgement. It is really childish. What if players refused to sign autographs? You think that i m not letting him get on with his job. He should grow up and get on with his job himself.

personally im not bothered whether he did or didnt want to pose for a photo

im very bothered about who he signs this season and our performances better improve

Spot on.

If he gets us up the business end this season and brings some good players in then I'll be happy. I'll continue to judge him on managing my club and it's a big season for him now.

I couldn't give a toss if he doesn't want a photograph!!

Micky Adams has come out and admitted in the press that he knows of criticism on internet forums so how can we be accused of calling him a liar and undermining him?

He knows about us. End of. If he doesnt like the people who pay him his huge wages having an opinion then he's in the wrong job as far as im concerned.

I'm not interested in him posing for photos. He gets critised on here enoug so why shouldn't he decide to distance himself from OVF? Especially as this forum is the minority and not the majority of Vale fans ( a generally well informed minority but forums tend to attract those with strong opinions).

I believe Micky's team would have reached the play offs last season if we could have retained loan players and strengthened in January, instead all loanee's were returned.

The retained list argument is a joke. He had to offer more players contracts to ensure we had a team to start the season. MA has stated that if circumstances had been different then so would his retained list. Haldane has 6 months and Pope a year to prove themselves.

I don't Think MA is asking anyone to feel sorry for him. It was an extremely tough year last year which would have impacted on any sane persons outlook on their job. Personally I'm very pleased MA is still with us.

Why is it a poor error of judgement? If he doesn't want his photo taken by someone representing this site then so what. I don't care if he doesn't help the little old lady across the road or rescue the poor old cat stuck up a tree either, the same as i don't care if he doesn't want to pose for a photo for this site.

D'ya think that Rotherham fans will care that they've got the most hated manager in the whole country if he gets them promoted? I think not, i wouldn't either. Jeez.

I think you are being a little silly there Mark. I m not asking Mickey to put a few hours in working the telephone lines at the Samaritans. Lets put into perspective it is a photograph for a supporter forum for the club that he is the manager of. To refuse it is just being plain silly and in my book is an error of judgement. He is the manager for crying out loud.

If mickey did get us promotion then i m sure no one will care in 12 months time but again what has that got to with this? I m sure there are plenty of Rotherham fans who dislike their manager. As i m sure there are fans at every club that dislike their manager. It is a completely separate issue.

This is an error of judgement by mickey. How much weight you add to it or how much you care about it is a moot point.

And not the first one either, but I think he'd be the first to admit that.

He has a habit of wearing his heart on his sleeve and we either accept it or we don't.

So what should we all do then? What is the point of going over the same old ground about Micky Adams time after time. He's been done to death now & it's boring.

Like you say Adams is our Manager, lets support him while he is then, not ridicule him over a fans forum because he didn't want to pose for a photo. Judge him on what he's paid to do, manage.

Whether we would have made the play offs last season is debatable. You can argue that if we kept the loan signings then we would have made it but lets be honest we played some awful stuff even with the loan signings and we were dismal at Maccelesfield and Hereford. We also failed to beat any of the top teams and were outplayed relatively easy. Teams such as Cheltenham and Torquay overtook us. Our tactics were so predictable for so many games last season with the long ball to Pope constantly being used. I m not so sure we would have made it. Crewe went on an awesome run and only made it themselves. They went on to beat a team in the final we lost miserably to twice.

How is the retained list argument a joke? You have said we have had to offer contracts to players to ensure we have any team to start the season with and if the circumstances has been different then so would the retained list. First of all when has Mickey said this and secondly i take it from your statement you are conceding the point that certain players are not good enough and have only been signed to ensure we have enough numbers. This is just ridiculous. The takeover has been on going since April and has always been expected to go through in June. So it must have been reasonable to assume that Mickey would have been able to sign players in late June through to when the transfer window closes. Why didn't he wait? Why didn't he set up deals to be completed when the takeover goes through?

We have signed in my opinion Pope, Taylor, Haldane and McDonald when they should have been released. We have been linked with other forwards, wingers and defenders so where was the rush? Why the need to sign average players to make up the team when we have got more time.It was always going to be a squeeze when it came to time but mickey has just panicked. This is highlighted by McDonald being offered a new deal and then we are linked with another centre half in Chilvers. Surely mickey should have released McDonald and signed Chilvers? 5 centre halves in just nonsensical with a limited budget.
