Christ, social media was full of "no way we will sell out, and "might get 8k" just a week ago. They drop the prices for kids and now it will sell out in minutes !!

Personally think we WILL sell out but I think it will go right up to the week before the match.

Not the point. Do you think it's right that being a friend of a season ticket holder gets priority over a paid up member, sold on the understanding they'd get priority before tickets go on general sale?

During the promotion season the usable capacity was 15,000. The club sell 3,000 to away fans, so at most, the home capacity is 12,000.

Since then there's been the issue with the Paddock toilets. So we just don't know as things currently stand, what the actual capacity of the ground is. If I had to guess, it's closer to 10,000 for home fans.

Now bearing in mind 5k ST holders will be able to buy "additional tickets" for friends and family, it's not hard to see why members have an issue with having to wait for general sale.

Like I said before, even if it doesn't become an issue, this shouldn't be happening. Members have paid a fee for a product with a benefit that has been taken away from them.

Absolutely no one should be ok with this.

If STs are allowed to buy 2 tickets, 1876s should be allowed to buy 1 if not 2 also.

The way I read it, ST holders can buy as many as they want. The statement says "additional tickets for friends and family".

1876 members aren't even mentioned, it goes from ST holders straight to general sale.

As much as i take my hat off to season ticket holders for their commitments to the club i just don't see why they should get access to buy more than 1 ticket for themselves, that way there will be plenty left for members ( if they get priority like they should ) and then general sale. The season ticket holder purchased their season ticket not their wife, friend & work boss 🤷🏼‍♂️

You have to wonder why the club couldn't come up with the obvious, fair priority order of:

- Season ticket holders (one per season ticket)

- 1876 members (one per membership)

- General sale

It makes a mockery of the membership scheme, and points based loyalty system in general, if friends of season ticket holders, who might not even be Vale fans, can jump straight to the front of the queue for the biggest game of the season, potentially at the expense of members who've paid for priority and other supporters who attend matches regularly.

The ticketing for this fixture, from the initial pricing to the current selling arrangements, has been a complete and utter shambles.

Port Vale are as bad at ticketing as they are at signing strikers. It is really poor.

You have to question whether it's all worth it.

Maybe if the ticketing improved then Port Vale could afford to sign decent strikers.

Be positive.

I 100% agree with you.

I hope the club see sense in the next day or so and correct it accordingly

I understand the club may not have been fully in control of deciding the ticket pricing since it has to be agreed with the opposition who may have insisted on a minimum price and certain concessions etc.  However, I don’t quite understand why they’d want to change the established ticketing prioritisation system which I thought was designed specifically for games such as this when there’s potential for demand to outstrip supply.

I’m a ST holder and would be completely happy for those with more points than me to have first dibs, followed by other ST holders and then 1876 members ahead of any of my friends and family who don’t fall into any of those categories.  And happy to do that too at the expense, however likely/unlikely, of not being able to sit with friends and/or family who don’t ordinarily attend games.

I can only speak for myself obviously, but think the club would be wrong not to reconsider changing what appears to be a well intentioned if not well thought out prioritisation process for tickets for this game.  For whatever reason this fixture seems to have bamboozled our admin team so far, but given this is a once in 70 year experience I guess they deserve some slack.  However, I’ll be less forgiving when our progression in the league and to the later stages of major cup competitions inevitably becomes a more regular occurrence 😉.
