Nothing would describe that performance to be fair.

We're showing them far too much respect and the system just isn't working. We're leaving the lad up front hung out to dry.

Sang on the right is painfully obviously not working very well. 

Not sure what the thinking with Thomas on his own is. It’s not sticking, just comes straight back. When we’re not putting ourselves under pressure we’re just passing straight out of touch. 

Changes needed or we’re delaying the inevitable <ovf censored> goal. They strolled through for the pen, too rigid in the zonal marking and no one pressed the loose ball. 

Not convinced with that performance so far. We don't exactly look difficult to play against. The offside goal, I didn't see a good angle on it for offside but that would have flattered us as we've been dominated most of the first half.

We've done well to contain these first half. All they've had for their domine ce is the penalty.

Where's Harrison? Not warming up on the pitch and didn't see him on the bench first half?

Cleaning his locker out. 

Really poor tactics and half that. 

Positives from that half for me:

Arblaster looks quality on the ball again.

Carroll has had no change out of Smith, and is now on a yellow.

Jones has grown into the game.

The Yak looks solid.

Ripley proves his credentials again

Negatives:

Sang is not a WB

Chislett hasn't been in the game, largely due to our game plan

Not one for the purist this. Need to be switched on start of the second half. We’ve largely nullified them outside of when they won the penalty. Want to see us get Arblaster on the ball more. He’s showing some quality when he has had the chance so start trying to feed him more

You've got to feel sorry for Thomas chasing shadows up top on his own. Feeding off hoofballs. The formation isn't working, and it didn't work last season either. The midfield is still being bypassed despite us having ten men behind the ball. Sang isn't a right back. 

Ripley is class. Arblaster and Chislett look very tidy though, we need to get the midfield into the game more rather than hoofing it over their heads.

Just announced on tannoy. Harrison had to “drop out” pre-match, and has been replaced on the bench by Jack Shorrock

They've got more quality on the ball than us but we're competing well.

Vale have done well to nullify the threat of Carroll and the other guy up front.

Can see 1 goal winning this.

Disagree with Sprowy on Carroll's penalty, it was the perfect height for Ripley and it looked fairly obvious where he was gonna put it, still a good save though.

 

 

We didn’t do much wrong there against a decent team. 0-0 at half time against a club relegated from the championship is prob as good a reply to a 7-0 1st drubbing as we could wish for. And we have had our moments.
