77 days

Unless I'm mistaken we are in the middle of 77 days between our last Saturday home match and the next one. Can't remember anything like it in my days of watching the Vale. Obviously there's nothing we can do about FA Cup weekends and postponements, it's just highly unusual that circumstances mean no Saturday home game for so long during the season.

Yes. It was mentioned a while ago. Other than lockdown etc, longest break between Saturday home games since 1962 winter when it was a touch fresh for a few months

A touch fresh for a few months, lol. Brilliant. Didn't it do something ridiculous like snow every day from boxing day to march.  Then it all melted bringing horrendous flooding.  Memory probably letting me down, but was there a cup game that got postponed about 15 times?

Can’t really do much about the Accrington or Derby postponements and the way Christmas fell this year.

I get that sometimes you have to play two homes or two aways in a row however I do think the fixture computer shouldn’t be allowed to give out back to back away games adjacent to an fa cup weekend.

In recent years they seem to have started giving clubs fixtures where they have runs of consecutive home or away games or at least where the majority of games are either home or away. I think it is because it causes the tables fluctuate more. It gives the media things to talk about - good runs, bad runs managers facing the sack, teams under or over performing and a constant change. Sometimes it can destroy or inflate teams confidence to a point where they then continue their form.

Its a bit of a middle finger to fans. Casual home fans have to fork out more in the months when there are home games or select which games they are going to. Fans that go away end up with similar choices only with away fixtures. Then when games get called off and rounds of the cups you can end up not having any home games for what seems like an eternity.

I'm sure not long after Eddie Howe took over at Newcastle they looked to be struggling and had a run of something like 1 home game in 10 over a 2 month period then flew up the table when they had 5 in 8 at home at the end of the season.

I recall me and my dad walking across Knype Pool. It was freezing
