I will ask this again.

From the League One transfers this summer, who could we have realistically signed that has gone to another club?

For me, Ashley Hunter + Callum Johnson are the only two I'd have liked us to have been in for. It's not like everyone else is doing incredible business and we're being left behind.

I'd doubt there will be any signings announced while they are in Spain? Aren't the media team all over there so no one to do the new signing videos/interviews at VP?

Wildig and Keilor-Dunn definitely would of improved us.

Obviously we will sign more players, whether it’s in a weeks time or four weeks time. However, we have obviously missed out on some of our targets. There’s no way the recruitment process was set up for us to have only signed two players before the pre season tour, whilst also getting rid of a decent number. The Cass signing was probably all agreed months ago too. Whether this is an issue or not, none of us really know yet. Hopefully there’s signings in the pipeline to be announced next week.

Up the Vale.

Keilor-Dunn I agree with too actually.

Wildig would be a good signing for someone in L2, but I don't think he'd have improved us in L1 personally. I think all of our current midfielders are 'better'.

I take it you do not like Lucas or liked him we got promotion and everyone who had minutes last season played there part ,we won v Barrow so a goalie makes a mistake certain players make mistakes regularly but never hear a peep about them but goalie low and behold they make a mistake ,mistakes happen we played a high press when Lucas played give the lad a bit of credit .
Obsessed some fans are with mistakes lets look at the positives of last season (so many )players who have I openly thought they were not up to the job proved me wrong lets hope they all as a whole continue to silence there doubters I hope for one Lucas does just that

Well said Breaders

Would have liked any of the following who I think were realistic: Oliver, Dunn, Wildig, hunter, vernan, azaz, O’Connell (gone Charlton so probably not as realistic), marquis, Dunkley.

I think a couple of sides doing some very good business, Shrewsbury to me look to making some really good signings, Morcambe as well. Derby on a bigger scale.

Do some fans deliberately not listen to what the Manager and DOF say?

It's simple, they are looking to improve the quality of our squad. We have let some go off the bottom of the squad on terms that are good for PVFC.

The quality incoming will come the nearer the window closure comes and players demands ease towards our budget.

If it means going with what we have till then, so be it.

Just trust the people running and working at the club. Look at the backroom staff structure. Do you think a DOF, Manager, Recruitment Analyst, etc etc etc know less than us supporters?

We are no longer in the V2001, Smurthwaite eras. Please look back to the announcements which from Day 1 of the close season have said 'be patient.

As I keep quoting on here Pullis made all his best signings on deadline day or thereabouts. We are still nearly 50 days away from then.

To say there isn't a recruitment plan is simply not correct. I am sure it's an ever rolling plan. No club signs every player they are monitoring.

IMHO the club's making wholesale signings are the ones in trouble. As they know their players are not good enough and who is to say the incomers will be any better?

We have a squad who our Management think are good enough for league 1 so we have retained them. We have hopefully improved the first team squad with two quality signings. More will follow.

It's not the quantity of signings that will decide our season it's the quality and sometimes we don't appreciate what we already have.

Is it not yourself who is not listening to the manager?

Clarke said last week that things are not moving at the speed that the club had hoped for. My only point is the same as this - we expected to be further ahead than we currently are. We've not only signed 2 players through choice - we've missed out on a few as it's been difficult to sign players this summer.

I'm not criticising. Just providing a rational reading of the situation.

Realistic is the point here relative to the transfer market.

Unrealstic targets can become realistic towards the end of the week window. That’s the point of sticking to your guns.

Agree with you on Dunn,Dunkley and Azaz all would have fit in to our system nicely.

Some things I'm extremely positive about and other things I'm less certain on. I look at individual situations without coming in with a predisposed view.
Do the fans who are positive about literally every single thing the club is doing not question that some of their assessments will be wrong? Be realistic - it's fallible humans making these decisions and some choices won't be perfect. Some people judge what the club does on the predisposition that it must be a good thing. Go back and read there posts - every single decision is a good one, in their view! Gibbons going, somehow a good thing. 2 signings in 6 weeks, a good thing. 2 friendlies, yep guess what, a good thing too! Everything Port Vale do is good, and that is decided before they read what the story actually is!
I admire the optimism but it also isn't a rational judgement. There's no objectivity - it's a spin game of making everything seem like an orchestrated plan which is working perfectly! The club gets a lot right but some wrong.
Be realistic and accept we've had a tricky summer and probably a tricky season. We've got a good setup with a great owner and a top class manager. That should be more than enough. I take 20th if offered. Far more realism needed.

All fans know we need more players

The club knows we do

Some fans choose not go constantly go on about it

I don't like the 'wait for the cheaper deals at the end' as that's a line which Askey used when our recruitment was absolute tripe!

Maybe not but it’s the reality when competing in a higher division with clubs of greater stature and more financial muscle.

I would also be very happy with 20th place.Much better than the last season in this division.

I do wish we'd have more signed up by now, and that they could have been involved on the Spanish training camp to bed in and integrate.

But we might announce 7 new players on Monday?

Then everyone can move on to talking about how they're "not good enough" instead 😂😂😂

Some of what you say has some veracity but conversely the people who tend to criticise a lot always like to dress it up as being “rational” or “realistic”. Last season during January I remember people saying we’d screwed up our recruitment loaning in Harratt and Edmondson one of whom ultimately went on to score for us at Wembley. At no point is there ever any admission they were badly wrong it’s just find something else to poke at. The point being it goes both ways.

The reality is of course you’d want deals to be done sooner but if we are looking for better quality players particularly if already at another club then it’s not just our preferred timeline we have to work to.
