20k for taking part and 10k for a win 5k a draw. Plus the EFL cover any loss on the cost of putting the match on so from a club point of view well worth doing. From my point of view it's just the premier league bully boys getting their own way yet again slowly killing the game

To be fair Dave it was a good competition to blood youngsters for Premier League teams.

Stoke benefited greatly by playing Charlie Adam, Diouf, Bardsley and Muniesa at Morecambe. Those spring chickens really learnt a lot that night .

It's a shame Stoke just missed out on qualifying for the Trophy again. They could have fielded a full strength side if they wanted.

I still find it astonishing that they can continue to call it the "Football League" trophy when non Football League clubs play in it. I always thought it was an unsung tournament before - the only real chance for a lot of clubs to win a domestic trophy (as indeed we did twice) but it's been so diminished thanks to the B teams.

It's also insulting that the PL thought they could buy some places for their B teams. They chucked a paltry bit of cash (I think the PL have put in £1.5m in prize money - when each of their clubs earn circa £100m per season from TV alone) to FL clubs which doesn't soften the blow of fundamentally breaking the competition.

Also Rob they cancelled the Final between Pompey and Salford. Now surely Wembley was available for one day ?

No lover of Salford but that was their day of glory and to me the competition should of been concluded.

A paltry 10k for a win. If everyone stayed away and the competition went back to normal we would have 3k gates and receipts of 30k win or lose. I am against it but will go anyway......seems moronic to me.

Win your group games and thats 50k straight away. Prize money then increases. For a L2 club thats a players wages for a year. We never got 3k crowds for the previous competition. You would be lucky to get that for the League cup and FA cup early rounds.
