Manny what a Disappointment

When we played our early games this season I thought that in Manny we had unearthed a gem. Since the Northampton game and the cracker against Lincoln though he has been a massive let down. He no longer runs at defences, his passing is awful and in general he has lost the plot.

Come on Manny there is a good player in you please don't waste your talent because the old Manny Oyeleke could help us steer clear of the drop and prevent him like us going into non-league.

It is strange isn't it how players can lose form so drastically and Manny is the perfect example of one doing so. Continual injuries can't have helped the lad, but his current form and what he offers the team is certainly a long way off from what it was in the August and September sunshine. God do we need the old Manny back?

Who was the last player who really improved at the Vale? Smith is another player who Premiership clubs were looking at a couple of seasons ago and now he would struggle to find another league club should he leave. Gone are the days of The Painters, Guppy’s, Taylor’s etc. Who improve the longer they are with the club. Our coaching within the club is not up to standard.

Saying that I think Manny’s issues may be more to attitude.

Thought he was good yesterday and better than he has been recently. Injuries clearly havnt helped. But there has been much much weaker players than him every week so I don’t understand why your calling out manny?

Quite simply because he can do and play much better.

Have to agree with Sage, he has fell short of his own standards of late.

There are worse players I agree, Manny however, has the ability to shine in this league.

Credit to Askey with the formation yesterday allowing Oyeleke a 'free' role behind Pope being shielded by Joyce and Conlon whio were great (Joyce particularly) imo.

Look at Manny's distribution and performance against Crewe, he was superb.

He is capable of getting us out of trouble, he has ability, hopefully he'll shine in his 'new' role. Perhaps like the rest of the side he needs a confidence boost.

I for one wish him well as do all Vale fans. Yesterday was positive.

Probably why they are at the Vale. Have the odd good game in them but not enough quality/desire/intelligence to consistently play well. Brown apart we have a team full of them.

Thought he was better yesterday, he left three of the County lads for dead with a piece of skill for example burst away the played a slide rule pass to no one... just needs fitness and sharpness and hopefully be back to the Manny we know.

Thought he was conspicuously poor yesterday. With everyone else running, harrying, pressing, closing down, making space... apart from a few touches he barely raised a jog, no pressing, no challenges let alone tackles. Also, compared to someone like Hannant, his first touch is very clumsy. Currently not the player I hoped he would be, but as you say his continual injuries can't have helped, and he may be unintentionally reluctant to stretch himself for fear of another strain. Would like to see him produce enough (and stay fit enough) to get a deserved run of games and make the transition from non-league to the midfielder we need.

Actually Manny and Conlon complement each other and believe it or not Joyce played better as covering the back four which probably is his best performance in a Vale shirt.

Nice to see Worrall getting back towards his best and Legge doing what he does best at centre back.

A much better solid performance just needs goals.

Despite calls that Miller is not scoring he must be horrible to play against and gets free kicks and possible penalties that can change games.

Askey has tried everything else to create goals but with no success. At least give him and Pope a go against his old club Mansfield and he might get a surprise.
