How many more chances?

Mellor!

Recommended Posts

Just saw on Twitter someone has put the number of football league games experience each of Smurthwaites last 5 managerial appointments have had at the time of being given the job:

Page - 0 games

Ribeiro - 0 games

Brown - 0 games

Aspin - 0 games

Askey - 17 games

Yeah you say that but someone will always come out with "ah but John Rudge had no experience when he was appointed so you never know..." and also point out some random example of an experienced manager failing somewhere.

How many more times can something happen at this club and we just wait a bit longer to see what happens and give Norman a second chance?

Split the club from the ground - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Constructive dismissal of Page and the players - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Appointing Bruno and signing a load of players from watching YouTube clips - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Sacking Bruno after it all inevitably goes wrong - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Appointing someone on a "temporary basis" to replace Bruno, with no league experience - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Sell Grant and Alnwick in the transfer window with no proper replacements bought in, and pocketing the funds - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Get relegated with a whimper after being comfortably mid table on boxing Day - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Appoint the same manager on a permanent basis, after being relegated because he was the cheapest option - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Reject offers from two local businesses to buy the club at the price he paid, because he thought they didn't have the funds to run the club (rather they wouldn't be taking the funds from the club) - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Reduce the budget and hope a rookie can can take us up on the cheap. Sack rookie after losing nearly all his games in charge that season - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Fans are on his back, appoint a manager that is a club legend and bring in the club's best ever manager to take the flack off his back - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Manager starts really well, a strong transfer window could see us push for the play-offs. Obviously we sign a couple of kids and non-league players. We also make a couple of million from the Hugill sale - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

The season turns into another relegation battle, we stay up by a point - never mind we've got this Hugill money, we can have a good transfer window and push on next year - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

Don't back Aspin at all in the window, we fail to sign a number of targets because we can't compete on wages with League 2 and conference clubs - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

The inevitable happens, we're sucked into a relegation battle, Norman promises a £400,000 war chest in January - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

The pressure is really growing on Norman now, the 400,000 is no where to be seen, some fans still think he's doing his best - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time

2 days before the transfer window is closed, Aspin is sacked. Fans agree he needed to go but can only see that the reason he was sacked now is so he couldn't spend any money. Most fans are in agreement Norman needs to go.

We don't sign a single striker, but someone at the club has signed 6 kids to help in our relegation scrap. Fans have had enough. 100% of the SC vote a notion of no confidence. Protests are planned, starve him out is rekindled, he's having our pants down and we've had enough.

Norman appoints Askey as manager. Fans see it as the cheap option again but will get behind the new man. Others think the planned protests should now be stopped because they'll affect the manager and team. We just need to - wait and see what happens, give him another chance, he might learn his lesson this time.

Bit of a pattern isn't there?

He's had enough chances.

The protests will start and won't stop until he's gone.

We support the team, we support the new manager.

We do not support Norman Smurthwaite.

Norman Smurthwaite, GET OUT OF OUR CLUB.

Very passionate heartfelt post...... but who or what is going to stop him?

Askey for me isn’t the cheap option he’s a ******* decent manager who will do well with us. Should’ve been hire when aspin was.

He is the cheap option though isnt he, just like the previous 4 managers. And Askey may not of saved Vale last season. Who knows. Lets just hope he can get the 4 or 5 wins we need.
