The Darlington owner was George Reynolds who had a criminal record and was still allowed to buy the club. The Football League has a lot to answer for in its abject failure to monitor the ownership of the clubs in its jurisdiction.

I sat watching small groups inside the ground yesterday before the kick off and most of their body language largely gave the impression that they hadn't got a care in the world about the plight of the Club that they purport to support.

I have come to the conclusion that to them Port Vale is like some bizarre social club and as long as a few others turn up to laugh, joke and share a flask and a sandwich with they will just keep attending and the situation the Club actually finds its self in rather irrelevant. Sad people you may as well stay at home and invite your like minded friends around for your chin wags and refreshments. You would be far warmer as well!

Not that it’s likely to happen, but I believe that we should start to lobby for Carol at Synectics to reprieve her intentions of prising Norman’s grubby hands away from our club. Admittedly, even she may not have unaminous support, but she certainly would carry a substantial majority. We know that Norman’s fantasy valuation of the club is ridiculous in the extreme, but surely there must be a time when he has to listen to sense

This thing needs to be ramped up in the media and Carol must be vocally backed as the preferred bidder. Norman has to go, and soon, if our club is to have any future. The Vale are close to being mortally wounded and bleeding to death, with Count Dracula at our neck for good measure.

We have now entered the “last chance saloon” and are teetering on the brink, so this is the reason we, as supporters, must be very loud, clear and persistent in ousting this disaster of an owner, though he’s so vindictive, there’s the risk that he’d likely to take the club down with him. What a man!

If after all of that, Synectics make a definitive statement to officially and permanently rule themselves out of any further interest of ever owning Port Vale, then unless a previously unknown genuine party or consortium come forward, we can start preparing the Port Vale obituary in The Sentinel.
