Starting 11 18/19

Without wishing to be captain obvious, both half’s were a mix of starters and squad players I thought.

Unfortunately the mix seemed to be mostly squad players with a scattering of players good enough to start.

Bear in mind all those players have been training twice a day this week with no break, it’s not like they’ve prepared properly for a match today like they’d do in the season. It was just a non event.

I get that but thee was just no sign of any flair apart from Dodds especially with that sublime cross field ball to Daniel early on.

Has the moaning really started already?! FFS the first few pre season friendlies are about getting match fit and working on systems, not Messi's school of excellence

Every player is playing for his position against Cambridge. It’s rational to look to pick a side based on what’s been seen so far and let that change as we get closer to the first game.

 

Not talking about individuals performances just who I felt should start based on what I’ve seen so far with lots to change between then and now

The last two times I have been to Kidsgrove we have won,and then got relegated or come very close to it.

 

I remember losing 2-1 at Newcastle Town and I think we went on to win promotion,yesterday on a sloping concrete pitch do you honestly believe we should risk injury and go 100% just to say we beat Kidsgrove ?

You clearly don’t understand football if you’re reading that much into a pre-season game! (You wouldn’t be reading anything into if t was the other side of the coin and we did well)

I would have expected us to win at a canter and make the hard working but less skilled non league players look just that. Even then I would not have read much into it. There are 11 starting places up for grabs and 6 or 7 games to secure one.

It was a completely nothing game. A fitness exercise. The result couldn’t be any more irrelevant.
