I think a huge squad overhaul again would be counteractive. However aside from the younger lads I wouldn't be renewing anyone elses contract. We shouldn't be paying everyone up, but I think maybe a couple (Barnett and Lainton). Then as everyone else says quality over quantity please.

I've got a horrible feeling that Aspo will keep Pugh owing to his alleged 'utility'. If there's not better out there come the summer, though, I would be amazed! As Valiant Steve has said, the important thing is to keep the mainstays of the team who have at least performed to some extent this season, and then build on that. I would expect a complete overhaul in defence, with at least 2 CBS and LBS coming in (imho, we will need at least 2 LBS due to Monty's injury problems), as well as a RB to compete with Gibbons. Up front, I think Angus will be utilised to play off Pope or on the wing, if he's deemed ready next season, with another older striker brought in to provide backup.

 

A decent GK is an absolute must, with that keeper being installed as number one barring loss of form/continued howlers in order to keep at least some stability at the back.

Such a shame. If only he had Hannant's obvious desire and application, he could probably make a good living out of a career that 99% of young lads dream of growing up.

I would quite like it if Aspin signed a few players who are decent National League players (like Hannant was) these are players who will come in, give maximum effort and have something to prove. I think that mixed with a couple of proven players in their mid-late 20’s from League Two/League One would be a solid basis.

 

I think we are crying out for a real leader at the heart of our defence. Somebody a little bit older who will come in and open his mouth, somebody that could be given the captains armband because, as much as I love Pope, I don’t like strikers being the captain.

Not playing devils advocaat here but how many of these very poor goals we have conceded would we if we had a leader at the back .

I think Aspo will keep Pugh because of his versatility but release Tonge.

I get the point of not making a wholesale in the squad, again again again. But then again; keep the squad, keep the League position.

Something HAS to happen. HAS TO!

Read The Sentinel article said "tough choices" for Aspin. How can they be tough? Who would he want to keep?

 

We have the core players for a good squad! But we have to sign at least one CM, who can actually move for 90 minutes, without getting their walker out 60 minutes in.

We already have Kay for experience in the middle of the park. So get some mobile guys in there with him!
