Brexit again...

But your comment rants and raves about things like me calling them 'your party' and calling you 'pal' when they were clearly aimed at Warren. Anyway...

in post 9192 I called your rant post 9189 drivel... then if you follow the post trail of 9193, 9207, 9213, 9216, and was defending my association with "your party" the pal thing was a senior moment...

They have honoured it, it has been discussed, negotiations have taken place, the best deal possible has been rejected by the peoples representatives in parliament. The next step is to ask the people what they want now the options are clearer, whether that is done by a referendum or an election is to be decided.

Hmmmmm..... my ballot paper had a choice of leave or remain not leave or 'discuss leaving, reject a deal, reject no deal and then ask me again'.

Who did you think would organise it all? Why did they not tell you it was only advisory? Did they expect the result to be leave? That is why it is a shambles and likely to get worse.

a post earlier says that referendums are only advisory, but Cameron said that they would abide by the result, never dreaming it would be leave... but on that result and his commitment to abide by it, the government and parliament should have done what they are extreamly well paid for, and earned their corn...

The next step is to leave in October....... there will not be an election before then, nor a referendum...... they may try to put that next step off..... at the moment that's the only step available.

It's a shambles because the remainers don't want to lose the leave votes and the leavers don't want to lose the remain votes..... the Tories are crap and jezza wants to leave but wants to win a GE more..... the lib dems want to be relevant.... the SNP want independence..... brexit party demands we leave but won't know what to do if it happens.... the rest are inconsequential..... and that's why it will get worse.

In all of it.... the people don't matter..... only the votes.

Referenda can be mandatory or advisory, the AV referendum was mandatory a simple vote yes or no, whereas Brexit is highly complex not suitable for a simple vote, or at least there should be a 2nd vote on the deal as Mogg suggested and conveniently forgets.

It is a brave man who forecasts anything about Brexit, when will Boris take office? Before or after the holidays?

It's a mess because those who want to remain refuse to accept the result. It really is that simple.

The purpose of parliament is to serve the country, the best deal possible was blocked by the DUP and the far right of the Tory party, the purpose of the opposition is to oppose, after all 60 % of their voters preferred to remain.

Both sides said they would honour the referendum result..... have we left yet?

Because politicians say something doesn't mean they will do it..... politicians lie.

2 tory mps can't being themselves to vote for any of the candidates....

It's not a forecast mate..... the only move available at the moment is to leve, hence the next step.... that may or may not change but that's a future event..... after a new PM is in place.... in July?...... there is no reason to call a GE...... it may happen but if it does it probably won't be before October..... and there isn't enough time to call a referendum before October....... so the only step available is to leave until someone creates another step.

You mean the best deal an idiot negotiated...... not quite the best deal possible.

Why aren't the opposition opposing leaving?...... it's difficult to keep the government in check when you can't keep your own party in check.

Let me ask you this then, Tommy.

Suppose you were in for a serious operation in 6 months time and agreed with the surgeon that you'd have it done and see him again in November, but when it got to November the surgeon was less keen and said that you can still have it done if you like but over the summer 9/10 patients have died in theatre because it's proved far more risky than he thought. What would you do?

Go blindly ahead as you said you would do?

Or, weigh it up, re-think, and perhaps postpone it?

Honestly, what would you do?
