Tonight's League 2 games.

For Us All

After watching the 'highlights' from our 4-2 reserve team defeat at Morecambe, there doesn't seem much appetite for first team football from the majority of players in that team, especially in defence?
But it might just be a few of them making the others look bad and he might go for example with Howe and he have a stormer playing alongside Hoskins on sat .

Reserve games for exple Regis may not perform in fron t on 3 men and a dog at a reserve game but in front of 4000 appreciative of his efforts fans he may be magnificent as may Dior or Benns or Turner

Looking at the fixtures, other teams have at least as difficult a run in as us.

What concerns me a little is that, like last year, we have an awful lot of players who know that they won't be here next season and it's questionable if they've got the stomach for a fight. Loan players will go back. Some of the older lads will leave or get paid off. Others will get frees. We don't have a solid core of 8-9 players who are nailed on for places next year. That has to be at the back of some minds. Are they all prepared to run through the proverbial brick wall for PVFC?

And this is the problem with wholesale changes every summer. You need a core of 7-8 which you add 3 or 4 solid signings to per summer, supplemented by a couple of loan signings during the season when needed.

On a side note I see Jack Stobbs started for Sheffield Wednesday last night!

I was surprised Stubbs didn’t get more of a chance at vale. he did well in the few short cameos he had for vale, looked to have some skill and looked as though he could whip the ball in from out wide.

Think he suffered from the fact brown brought in loads of loans so some always had to miss out.

I’ve been looking at how many points teams have needed for football league survival over the last 10 years.

The average points needed over this period is 44 points, meaning that from our current position we would only need a 2-4-7 record to survive.

But Barnet were relegated in 2013 with a respectable 51 points meaning we’d need 18 more points than we have at present to stay up. That would mean a minimum of 4 or 5 wins to have a chance.

Let’s hope for a season like 2015/16 when both York and Dag & Red dropped out with a paltry 34 points.

But which way will it go ?
