Knowing the Vale we will have the pitch inspection at 2pm which is when it will be called off!

remember years ago an away game to York, we hired a Renault 5 from marstons on morning of the game, got all the way past leeds only for the game to be called off but you would think communication in this day n age should be better

I remember that!

We’d drove up aswell sitting in the boozer in York and at 2pm locals out the pub came across to us asked if we were there for the game , postponed

Stayed for two more then long drive home in a Granada 2.3 Ghia. Class day out

Mk2? Quality motor. Never quite had the style of the Mk1 though.

Volunteers needed to clear the pitch apparently but no pitch inspection according to official Twitter.

To have 'NO' pitch (surrounding area) inspection is insane.Unfair on Cambridge the fans travelling.Unless the club are at least 90% certain the game will go ahead. There should be one no later than 13:00 to be fair to their fan's.Then IF it is off at least they can turn around and go back before they get to Burslem (and then find out its off)

To be fair the ref is probably there planning to be there shortly and before this snow now coming down the pitch would have been fit.

Same here, as we went all the way to Bradford at Christmas years ago, only to find out it was off when we got there.

I went on one of the buses that day did not know till we pulled up outside the ground we had a vote on the bus whether to go watch rochdale or man u vs leicester on way back someone actually voted for Rochdale. By the way united won i think it was 3-1 Best Law and Charlton good to see them live but would still prefer the vale no brainer.

Its not only about the pitch they also need to check surrounding areas.Often get in a local ref to decide if its safe or not.Which can saye a lot of wasted travel.

remember a rochdale game away that wouldn't be played today think we were 3-1 down ended up 3-3 and the pitch was boggy with standing water and the ball wouldn't roll ,,think ally brown score 1 or 2... its amazing some of the games that got played on various pitches and conditions it helps make football which can be too sanitised today

I don't see why the surrounding areas are any concern of the club. We don't close shopping centres, cinemas or parks because of snow in "surrounding areas". Let people make their own mind up!
